Tyler was selected as one of Utah’s top 40 trial lawyers under 40, which evidences his drive and dedication to serve his clients to every extent of the law. He has also been a major contributor to charitable and legal organizations. He currently serves on the Board of the Utah Association for Justice (formerly known as the Utah Trial Lawyers Association), where he serves on the amicus committee and membership committee. He is also a Commissioner Elect on the Utah State Bar Commission (which manages the affairs of the Utah Bar Association).
He continues to give back to the community through his involvement in the Springville Rotary Club where he was President from 2011 to 2012, and occasionally, as time allows, coaching high school baseball.
QUESTIONNAIRE
I recently settled a bus wreck case that may be a new state record for the largest settlement in a personal injury case in the history of the State of Utah.
How did you build a successful practice?I have developed a reputation among other injury attorneys as an experienced trial lawyer. Other attorneys send me referrals because they know I know how to litigate complicated cases.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?Experience, communication, experienced staff, and a personal connection.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?Very. A lawyer's knowledge of a Judge's preferences and potential jurors' attitudes can drastically change the outcome of a case.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?There is so much to cover here I can't mention it all. But in a free consultation I typically instruct clients about how to preserve evidence (often critical to the outcome of their case) and how to navigate payment of bills. I can also explain an overview of the insurance claim process, and if necessary, the litigation process.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?Details of how an injury occurred, and an explanation of medical treatments received.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?I have a small caseload. I have personal interaction with my clients. I have very experienced staff. I am not afraid to litigate a case through trial and/or appeal.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?Getting a heartfelt thank you from a client at the conclusion of their case.
What are your other interests in addition to law?I'm an avid outdoorsman. I archery hunt, backpack, cycle, trail run and love doing dirty work.
Are you involved in your community?I've been a Rotarian for almost 17 years and I'm routinely involved with our service project and charities.
