A public use is virtually anything that is sanctioned by a federal or state legislative body, but such uses may include roads, parks, reservoirs, schools, hospitals or other public buildings. A legal claim placed on real estate by someone who is owed money for labor, services or supplies contributed to the property for the purpose of improving it.
