John Paul serves as an Associate Attorney in the Environmental Litigation practice group at Singleton Schreiber, where he is committed to advocating for individuals and communities impacted by environmental harm. With a foundation in both public service and legal practice, John brings a unique perspective to his work, combining rigorous legal training with a proven track record of service and leadership. Prior to joining Singleton Schreiber, John’s legal experience included pro bono immigration work representing asylum claimants living with HIV and AIDS, patent prosecution in the fields of remote sensors and medical devices, and internships at the Superior Court of San Francisco and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California. Before entering law, John served as an active-duty Marine Infantry Officer, deploying four times overseas and gaining extensive leadership experience in challenging environments. John earned his law degree from the University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco where he won recognition in national moot court competitions and participated in the UC Law Business Journal. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Naval Academy, where he was a varsity lightweight rower and a member of the Formula Society of Automotive Engineers racing team. He is admitted to practice in California and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Outside of his legal work, John is an avid outdoorsman and environmental enthusiast. He enjoys backpacking, keeping bees, and mushroom foraging with his wife. John brings the same discipline, curiosity, and commitment to stewardship that define his professional work to his life beyond the office.

Taylor Marrinan is an Associate Attorney at Singleton Schreiber, where he focuses on civil rights litigation. A former public defender with extensive courtroom experience, Taylor brings a deep commitment to protecting constitutional rights and advocating for those who have been wronged by systems of power. Prior to joining Singleton Schreiber, Taylor represented hundreds of indigent clients facing a wide range of criminal charges. His work as a public defender equipped him with substantial trial experience, including conducting jury trials, litigating complex motions, and engaging in strategic negotiations to achieve favorable outcomes for his clients. This foundation shapes his approach to civil rights cases, where he draws on his courtroom skills and unwavering dedication to justice to hold institutions accountable and secure meaningful results for his clients. Taylor earned his Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law, graduating cum laude. During law school, he was an active member of the National Mock Trial Team and received the Pro Bono Service Award with Distinction, recognizing his commitment to serving underserved communities. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of California, Los Angeles and is a member of the National Police Accountability Project. Outside of his legal practice, Taylor spends his free time with his wife and son, often exploring the outdoors together. He is an avid snowboarder and, as a lifelong Padres fan, loves catching home games at Petco Park.

Jordan Goulet is an Associate Attorney at Singleton Schreiber's San Diego office, where he represents insureds in the firm's Insurance Recovery and Bad Faith practice. He is committed to ensuring that every individual has an equal opportunity to seek justice, regardless of socioeconomic status. Jordan joined Singleton Schreiber as a Summer Associate and was promoted to Post Bar Law Clerk in August 2025, before advancing to Associate Attorney. He developed a passion for plaintiff-side work after recognizing the significant financial barriers many people face in accessing the legal system. This commitment to advocacy drives his approach to representing clients who have been wrongfully denied insurance claims or treated unfairly by insurance companies, and he focuses on holding insurers accountable and securing the coverage and compensation his clients deserve. Jordan earned his Juris Doctor cum laude from California Western School of Law, where he was admitted into the Public Service Honors Society for his work as an extern for Magistrate Judge Steve B. Chu at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Philosophy from the University of California, Santa Barbara. While at UC Santa Barbara, Jordan served as a Public Safety Liaison between the student body, the UC Santa Barbara Police Department, and the Isla Vista Foot Patrol, where he collaborated with local law enforcement to implement public safety initiatives benefiting students in the community. Jordan is admitted to practice law in California. Outside the office, he enjoys golfing, snowboarding, and playing in his weekly softball league.

Mary Fata is an Associate Attorney in Singleton Schreiber's Motions, Writs, and Appeals practice group, where she focuses on complex appellate litigation and post-trial advocacy. Before joining the firm, Mary served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Vladimir P. Devens at the Hawai'i Supreme Court, where she gained firsthand exposure to the full spectrum of appellate practice. Prior to her clerkship, she worked as a staff attorney at a nonprofit in New York City, leading an initiative focused on providing legal services to low-income senior women. Mary earned her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2022, where she was a recipient of the Berkeley Law Public Interest Fellowship. During law school, she served as Co-Director of the Berkeley Law Anti-Trafficking Project, Supervising Editor for the Berkeley Journal of International Law, and as a legal research extern with the UC Berkeley Goldman School of Public Policy Hague Domestic Violence Project. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University Bloomington in 2016. Mary is admitted to practice in New York. Outside of the office, Mary enjoys hiking, traveling, and drawing.

Zaira P. Estrada is a member of our Fire Litigation Division. Before joining Singleton Schreiber, she handled criminal cases for a law firm in San Diego and developed her advocacy skills during a three-year internship with the San Diego Public Defender’s Office. After earning a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2016 from the University of California, Irvine, Mrs. Estrada attended Thomas Jefferson School of Law, where she was selected to be a part of the Criminal Law Fellowship and Criminal Law Society and graduated in 2020. As a native Spanish speaker, Mrs. Estrada communicates easily and empathetically with clients whose first language is Spanish. She is adept at explaining complex legal proceedings in terms that are easily understood. In 2021, Mrs. Estrada was admitted to practice before California state courts. She’s also admitted in federal courts including the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. In her spare time, Mrs. Estrada enjoys spending time with her family.

Jennifer Scott is Senior Counsel at our firm’s Fire Litigation practice group, where she oversees the team of employees working directly with fire and environmental disaster survivors. Ms. Scott and her team have represented thousands of fire and environmental disaster survivors in California, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, Colorado and Texas

Steven Erkel (“Steve”) formed Erkel Law to help victims, individuals, and clients in moments of crisis. Steve enjoys getting to know each of his clients and guiding them through the legal process – many of whom are dealing with an adversary for the first time. Since founding Erkel Law, P.C., Steve works aggressively in litigating cases and is known for his tireless advocacy and relentless approach to law. Steve received his B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles (“UCLA”), where he graduated magna cum laude; his M.A. from Georgetown University; and his J.D. from U.C. Berkeley School of Law. Steve and his wife, Sarah, are proud parents to two amazing kids. Steve is an avid baseball fan and played college baseball.

Mr. Sapir attended California State University, Northridge and graduated with a BA in Political Science, and graduated from Southwestern Law School with Juris Doctorate degree. He is a member of the California Bar, the United States District Court Bar, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeal bar and the United States Supreme Court bar. Mr. Sapir’s practice is primarily civil litigation, with an emphasis on personal injury cases. Mr. Sapir has handled personal injury cases on behalf of clients since he was admitted to the California Bar in 2012 and has extensive experience handling such cases from A-Z. Through Mr. Sapir’s experience, he saw that clients deserved more time, attention, and an attorney who truly cared about their case. He is dedicated to obtaining the best possible resolution for injury victims and their families.

Arianne is a graduate of both the University of Washington as well as Southwestern Law School. Before attending law school, Arianne also worked for a few years as a paralegal to gain experience in the field. Since graduating from law school, Arianne has spent the past eight years working in personal injury law as a perceptive and tenacious attorney who is dedicated to obtaining the best possible resolution for injured victims and their families. Indeed, Arianne’s dedication to her clients goes beyond professional obligations. She treats each client with the same care and attention she would give to a close friend or family member, ensuring that people from all walks of life are fairly compensated for their injuries, whether that be through litigation or settling. Originally born in the Philippines, Arianne is also able to work with clients in Tagalog if they prefer. In her free time, Arianne enjoys traveling, sports and live events, discovering new restaurants, as well as hiking and yoga.

Rusty Levin is a partner at LNN, where he heads the workers’ compensation department. Since graduating from Loyola Law School with Honors, Mr. Levin has worked solely in the field of workers’ compensation, exclusively on the side of the injured worker. Mr. Levin’s passion for helping injured workers has led him to be a co-founder of LNN, where he is able to blend his compassion for injured workers and knowledge of the law to bring about swift and superb results for his clients. Mr. Levin has devoted his entire legal career to aggressively litigating workers’ compensation cases on behalf of injured workers, having litigated hundreds of workers’ compensation cases for his clients before workers’ compensation appeals boards throughout California. Mr. Levin’s experience makes him well-equipped to handle the complexities of workers’ compensation law from both a legal and practical perspective. As a result, Mr. Levin has been able to maximize financial settlements for his clients while also providing them with access to the medical treatment necessary to cure and relieve the effects of their industrial injuries. As a result of his aggressive hands-on approach, Mr. Levin has been able to recover millions of dollars for his clients.
