I grew up in Napa, California and retain strong family ties there. I raised my family in Southern California and as a result I am now a Southern California Transplant. I graduated from Occidental College in 1993 with a degree in Politics and gained sales and management experience for four years prior to enrolling in Loyola Law School of Los Angeles in 1997. I earned my Juris Doctorate from Loyola in 2001 and graduated in the top 10% of my division. I have been a civil litigator my entire career, conducting over 2000 bench trials and more than 350 of these in probate court alone. I have been victorious in well over 95% of these trials, recovering hundreds of millions of dollars for my clients. As I move to my mid 50’s, my children are pretty much all grown, my life is stable, and I am focused on providing excellent, high quality, and focused attention to individualized cases where I believe I can truly make a difference. I want to get to know my clients and I want them to get to know me.

Colleen Van Egmond is an accomplished lawyer that has extensive legal experience in business planning, business litigation, estate planning, estate litigation, probates, employment law, agriculture law, along with accident and injuries. She has worked for such law firms as Thayer Harvey Gregerson Hedberg & Jackson along with Curtis & Arata prior to becoming the managing partner with Arata Swingle Van Egmond & Goodwin. In addition to her legal experience, she is currently active in different associations such as Association of Defense Council, Stanislaus County Bar Association and the Children's Crisis Center. Colleen Van Egmond graduated from the McGeorge School of Law with an honors in taxation and was admitted to the California State Bar in 2005. In addition to her legal degree, Ms. Van Egmond has a B.S. in Managerial Economics and a A.S. in Agriculture Business.

Arsen founded the Law Offices of Arsen Sarapinian, P.C. after years of litigating cases throughout Southern and Northern California while working with renowned law firms such as the Dolan Law Firm and Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy. This included fighting corporate giants such as PG&E, national and international companies, governmental agencies, trucking companies, insurance companies, and others. In 2019, Super Lawyers Magazine selected him as "Rising Star" (limited to 2.5 percent of attorneys in California). That same year, The National Trial Lawyers selected him to the "Top 40 Under 40" list. Arsen has tried cases before juries and has arbitrated and mediated dozens of cases across California, recovering millions of dollars on behalf of deserving clients. A unique aspect of the firm is our understanding of how insurance companies evaluate and defend cases. Arsen previously worked with insurance companies (outside trial counsel) and defended high-stakes personal injury, wrongful death, and employment cases with damages in the 6-8 figure range. This insight puts the firm at an advantage when dealing with insurance companies. His track record of success also stems from understanding what judges look for, how judges analyze legal arguments, and how judges make rulings. Arsen has this experience - having worked as a judicial law clerk for Justice Marvin R. Baxter of the California Supreme Court (highest court in California) as well as to Judge Elizabeth D. Laporte of the District Court (federal court), where he assisted the courts in making rulings and writing judicial decisions. Arsen is a graduate of UC Hastings College of the Law, where he served on the law school's flagship law review, the Hastings Law Journal and his article, "Fighting Foreclosure: Using Contract Law to Enforce the Home Affordable Modification Program" was published in the Hastings Law Journal (64 Hastings L.J. 905 (2013)) and was awarded UC Hastings' Albert G. Evans Scholarship in Private Enterprise. Arsen serves on the Board of Directors of the Litigation Bar Association ("LBA") and is a member of The National Trial Lawyers ("NTL"), the Armenian Bar Association ("ABA"), the American Association for Justice ("AAJ"), the Consumer Attorneys of California ("CAOC"), and the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles ("CAALA").

Lawrence D. Rohlfing has practiced disability law since 1985. He represents the disabled and seeks to enforce their rights before the Social Security Administration, the United States District Courts, the United States Courts of Appeal, and the United States Supreme Court. Having been involved in thousands of disability claims and training of other lawyers, he brings considerable experience and expertise to the representation of disability claims under Social Security and ERISA.Mr. Rohlfing has argued disability and other benefit entitlement claims in over a hundred claims before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He presented briefs in three cases to the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Rohlfing argued Black & Decker Disability Plan v. Nord to the United States Supreme Court in April 2003.Mr. Rohlfing is a sustaining member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (NOSSCR). He currently serves as the Ninth Circuit Representative to the NOSSCR Board of Directors and currently serves as the Treasurer of NOSSCR sitting on the Executive Board. Mr. Rohlfing is the past chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Social Security Section. Mr. Rohlfing has presented numerous papers to bi-annual meetings of NOSSCR, the Los Angeles County Bar Association Social Security Section, the Beverly Hills Bar Association, the Southeast Bar Association of Los Angeles County, and the National Business Institute.Mr. Rohlfing graduated from Whittier College in 1982. He graduated from Whittier Law School in 1985 cum laude. He is the proud father of seven children that he raises with his wife Maggie. He is actively involved in the community managing baseball and softball teams, coaching football, and serving as the elder of La Habra Christian Church.

Mr. Bendel received his B.S. in Finance, magna cum laude, from the University of Connecticut in 1997. He then went on to receive his J.D., magna cum laude, in 2000 from Pepperdine University, where he was a member of the Pepperdine Law Review. Upon graduating from law school, Mr. Bendel joined the Los Angeles office of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, where he practiced for over twelve years. While at Stroock, Mr. Bendel handled complex business litigation, including securities disputes, small business dissolutions, insurance coverage and bad faith matters, and other business and commercial disputes. The primary focus of Mr. Bendel’s practice is insurance coverage and insurance bad faith litigation. He has provided coverage advice and/or been involved in bad faith litigation with respect to claims made under all types of insurance policies including Commercial General Liability, Directors & Officers, Errors & Omissions, Property, Homeowners, and Automobile insurance policies. Mr. Bendel is admitted to practice before all federal and state courts in California, including the California Court of Appeal and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has tried cases in federal and state courts in Northern and Southern California. In total, Mr. Bendel has over fifteen weeks of trial experience. Mr. Bendel also has experience at the appellate level; he has drafted a number of successful appellate briefs.

Our firm was founded by our father and mentor Virgil Jackson in 1971 in the mid-wilshire area of Los Angeles, California. He was able to use the knowledge he had gained working for insurance companies to help victims of accidents obtain fair compensation for their injuries. Over the years he continued to focus his practice on helping injury victims, particularly those with work injuries. He earned an excellent reputation among his peers, judges and court personnel as a compassionate and tenacious advocate who fought tough yet fairly to obtain the full measure of compensation for his clients. Mr. Jackson’s excellent reputation for results quickly spread throughout Los Angeles and surrounding counties and his practice flourished with most of his clients being referred by other clients.

Laurel Buchanan is a partner at Decker and Buchanan Law which focuses on Civil matters including Business Law, Real Estate Law, and Personal Injury. The firm also handles Criminal Law and Probate matters in the Inland Empire region. Ms. Buchanan is a Southern California native who has been active in the legal community for many years. While obtaining a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management, Ms. Buchanan was chosen to intern for local County Counsel in the Temecula area. After interning for County Counsel in Dependency Court, Ms. Buchanan pursued a Juris Doctorate degree. Ms. Buchanan attended California Southern Law School in the evenings while working as a Law Clerk on civil law matters during the day. After graduating first in her class, she went on to open her own firm. Ms. Buchanan later partnered up with Attorney Jeffrey Decker to form the law firm of Decker and Buchanan. Together they bring experience and expertise, along with compassion and concern, to their legal practice. Ms. Buchanan is aware of the challenges that individuals face when having to deal with legal problems. Ms. Buchanan and her staff enjoy spending the necessary time to educate clients.
