Daniel Ciment is a recognized attorney throughout the state of Texas and has been representing clients in debt collection defense, bankruptcy, and consumer protection lawsuits for over 15 years. After graduating from South Texas College of Law in 2003, he began operating a high volume consumer collections law firm where he filed thousands of debt collection lawsuits. Daniel Ciment then went on to become a partner with a consumer bankruptcy firm in Chicago, Illinois. His years of experience have allowed him to take on a wide range of knowledge regarding debt and bankruptcy. Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
I had a client that received 1847 robocalls to her cell phone from a company called Conn's. She financed items that she purchased from them and was misled on a number of the terms. When the calls started she was sitting vigil with her grandmother who was like her mother. She repeatedly told them to stop calling her and that she would pay them as she had agreed. The calls continued for over a year. I sued Conn's for violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and for harassment under the Texas Debt Collection Act. The end result was a $220K+ arbitration award and the calls stopped.
How did you build a successful practice?
My practice was built around my clients and keeping them informed as to what is happening in their case. 99% of my clients have never been sued before and they are scared of the unknown. I provide my clients the information they need to sleep at night.
