After graduating from law school, Attorney Margolis became an Assistant Prosecutor for Cuyahoga County. He was immediately assigned to the Appeals Division, generally considered to be the brain trust of the prosecutor's office. Drawing upon his law school experience as a firefighter, Dan was a founding member of the county's first Arson Prosecution Unit. He also prosecuted several high-profile cases in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court.
In 2000, Dan entered private practice, focusing on criminal defense in all counties and courts in Northern Ohio. He has defended clients — adults and juveniles — in serious cases ranging from DUI to arson and murder. Over the years, Dan has built a reputation as an aggressive attorney who zealously advocates on behalf of his clients.

State v. Jay Bloesinger, CR-11-548002-A: Cleveland school teacher falsely accused by student of inappropriate touching and indicted for serious sex crimes. Through dogged investigation, aggressive motion practice and a very revealing and bruising (for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District) evidentiary hearing, I was able to show that the "victim" had set up my client and, perhaps even worse, CMSD Safety and Security had conducted a completely incompetent investigation. STATE OF OHIO V. ANTHONY COLEMAN
Defendant: Attorney for the defendant-appellant, Anthony Coleman. Coleman appealed the judgment entered after his plea f no contest. The judgment found him guilty of possession of drugs. Coleman contends that the trial court erred in their denial of his motion to suppress evidence. The evidence that was to be suppressed was obtained during an unlawful search and seizure. The appeals court found merit to Coleman's appeal and reversed the judgement. The conviction was vacated and the appellant subsequently discharged.
