Defense lawyer, Ashby C. Sorensen was born and raised in Virginia just outside of our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C.. He is a graduate of University of Colorado at Boulder, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication. Ashby later moved further West and settled in North County San Diego, California. He then studied law at California Western School of Law in San Diego. While in law school, Ashbyworked as an agent and advisor to many of the world’s top professional snowboarders, surfers and skateboarders. Associate attorney Michelle A. Cook received her undergraduate degree from California State University, Fullerton (B.A., cum laude, Business Administration, 2014), where she was recognized on the Dean’s List. She received her law degree from California Western School of Law (J.D., magna cum laude, 2017), where she was recognized on the Dean’s List and as a Student of Distinction. Nichole Mendoza graduated from San Diego State University in 2008 with a double major in Political Science and History. In 2010, she graduated from California Western School of Law and was admitted to the California Bar in June of 2011. Ms. Mendoza brings 14 years of experience serving low-income people with disabilities to Auto Fraud Legal Center. Her past achievements include obtaining a reversal and remand from the Ninth Circuit without need for oral argument in a case disputing the Social Security Administration’s denial of her client’s public benefits; and, representing people with disabilities in class actions and other impact litigation to advance the rights of unhoused people and tenants with disabilities in San Diego and across California.

Ms. Guizar has worked with Auto Fraud Legal Center since 2016. First as part of the legal staff when she gained valuable experience working with partners and associates on all aspects of the case, from the inception to trial. During the time as a legal staff, Ms. Guizar attended trials, mediations, arbitrations and depositions. Now, as an attorney Ms. Guizar litigates her cases while also acting as a case manager, overseeing all cases, preparing discovery plans and helping the associates and partners get ready for trial. Ms. Guizar graduated as an attorney from the Universidad Automoma de Baja California in the top ten of her class. While studying law in Mexico, Ms. Guizar started working for a federal agency dedicated to consumer protection. In 2003 she became the supervisor of the complaints department. From 2005 to 2007 she worked for the City Council of Tijuana as the Coordinator of Social Programs for one of its districts. In 2007 Ms. Guizar joined the Municipal Legal Counsel for the city of Tijuana, Mexico, as a legal advisor for the director of Public Transportation. In 2008 Ms. Guizar co-founded the Law Firm of Marquez & Associates where she litigated civil, commercial and family law. Mr. Guizar was admitted to practice in California in September 2025.

Attorney Christopher “Hawk” Barry joined the Auto Fraud Legal Center in 2002, and was made a partner in 2006. With over 20 years of consumer protection litigation experience, Mr. Barry has served as trial counsel in numerous auto fraud and lemon law cases resulting in precedent-setting punitive damage and civil penalty awards across California, including San Diego County, Orange County, Los Angeles County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, Kern County, Sacramento County, and Imperial County.

Josh Green is a former federal prosecutor who joined the Auto Fraud Legal Center LLP in 2023. Josh served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California for more than seventeen years. Josh was the Chief of the Majors Frauds and Public Corruption Section at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and he has considerable experience prosecuting cases involving deceptive, fraudulent, and predatory practices. Josh is a seasoned trial attorney, and he was a long-time faculty member at the U.S. Department of Justice’s trial advocacy program for new federal prosecutors. Josh also has considerable appellate experience handling matters before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Josh graduated, with honors, from The George Washington University Law School in 2001. Josh received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Albion College in 1997. Josh believes in giving back and is very active volunteering in the community. Josh is a past President of the Poway National Little League and past Director of the Chaparral Elementary School Foundation. Josh is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of Albion College. Josh has been an adjunct professor at the California Western School of Law for more than a decade. Mr. Green has been admitted to practice in California since 2007.

Gregory T. Babbitt received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara (B.A., Political Science, 1993) and his law degree from Syracuse University College of Law (J.D., 1997). While in law school, Mr. Babbitt clerked for California Court of Appeal, Associate Justice Richard D. Huffman. Mr. Babbitt has dedicated his career as a California lemon attorney to protecting consumers. Prior to joining the California auto fraud law firm of the Auto Fraud Legal Center, Mr. Babbitt was a Deputy Attorney General for the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Bureau of Consumer Protection (1998-2001), where he investigated and litigated fraudulent and deceptive business practices in the areas of automobile sales and repairs, home improvement, predatory lending, and debt collection. This experience served as the catalyst to his current California lemon law and auto fraud practice. Mr. Babbitt currently handles California car lemon and auto fraud cases (individual and class actions), and new and used California Lemon Law cases. He has obtained significant recoveries for consumers in a variety of areas, including the sale of prior rentals, demonstrators, lemon law buy-backs, salvage, flood damaged, and prior wrecks without disclosure, and for packing – a practice that involves the sale of items such as alarms, window etching, paint and fabric protection, GAP insurance, or warranties without the purchaser’s request or knowledge. In January 2005, Mr. Babbitt was trial counsel with Douglas Law for the trial of Robertson v. Fleetwood Trailers of California (Tulare County). A cracked shower drain caused water to leak into the underbelly of the Robertson’s trailer and mold to grow there. After trial, the jury ordered Fleetwood to repurchase the Robertson’s trailer and pay a civil penalty for failing to repurchase the trailer prior to the lawsuit being filed.
