He received his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the University of North Dakota in 1985, where he was a member of the North Dakota Law Review. Mr. Meyer also studied maritime and international law at the University of Oslo, Norway. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree with Departmental Honors in Anthropology in 1982 from the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Mr. Meyer's practice is primarily focused on representing victims of personal injury and families in cases involving wrongful death.
