About Jason

The McMinn Law Firm was established in 2005 by Jason B. McMinn, a young aggressive trial attorney. Mr. McMinn began practicing law in the midst of tort reform in the state of Texas .  Mr. McMinn attended the University of Texas getting a degree in Business Administration and law school at Texas Tech University .

Mr. McMinn began his legal career working for a large established law firm in Fort Worth, Texas . His primary practice areas were business litigation, medical malpractice defense, and general insurance defense. Mr. McMinn worked closely with some of the top defense attorneys in the State of Texas . He had very hands on approach and was allowed to be more involved with the litigation process than most of his peers. When tort reform took a toll on the defense work available, Mr. McMinn saw an opportunity to start his own firm with the vast array of knowledge and expertise he gained while working for this firm. Mr. McMinn moved the firm to New Braunfels in 2006 with the idea of catering to a growing community and focusing his practice on the smaller Texas counties extending to the gulf coast with a satellite office in Victoria, Texas

However, in August of 2007, the McMinn Law Firm moved its main office to Austin, Texas after having great success with its original office in New Braunfels .  Mr. McMinn found it to be in the best interest of the firm to expand to the Austin area extending the firm's services to this area while maintaining the New Braunfels office for personal injury and selective criminal cases.  The firm also made the decision to narrow its practice to personal injury and criminal trial law.

The McMinn Law Firm's common approach over the years is to focus exclusively on litigation and areas of law which require experience, innovation, and personable trial techniques.  Jason B. McMinn has had significant trial experience in criminal law and personal injury cases since the formation of the firm.

The McMinn Law Firm uses its extensive experience on the defense side to represent plaintiffs in various personal injury cases. No case is too small for our firm and we are willing and able to help the common person battle the larger insurance companies who deny claims without merit.

The McMinn Law Firm and Jason B. McMinn have committed a significant portion of its practice to criminal law.  Mr. McMinn has tried numerous felony and misdemeanor cases to a jury trial with many acquittals.  Mr. McMinn has an enormous amount of trial experience in this area of law.  Mr. McMinn really enjoys helping people overcome their criminal charges by offering advice, legal representation, and ensuring the system does not take advantage of this person's demographics or lifestyle.

Verdicts & Settlements

The McMinn Law Firm achieved a very effective settlement defending a manufacturer of fiberglass. This settlement avoided trial and saved my client thousands of needless dollars on defense costs.

The McMinn Law Firm has settled numerous cases from personal injury settlements in 2008 including:

  • Represented an Austin man who was hit by an 18-wheeler truck that was in the wrong lane and crushed his bucket truck that he was using to repair a traffic light.  The Austin man suffered from spinal injuries. After exposing the poor safety history of the trucking company, they agreed to settle the case for $1,950,000 with a client recovery of $1,025,000.

  • Represented a six year old Austin girl who sustained a brain injury at a local Austin business.  Prior to trial, the local business agreed to settle the case for $250,000 with a client recovery of $125,000.

  • Represented a Buda family that was involved in a head on automobile collision.  The husband and wife received spinal injuries from the impact of the collision. Prior to trial, the at fault driver's insurance company agreed to settle the case for $165,000 with a client recovery of $82,000.

  • Represented an Austin man that was hit by a car that jumped the curb and struck him while he was riding his bicycle.  After suit was filed, the insurance company agreed to pay $100,000 with a client recovery of $50,000 for the Austin man's spinal injuries.
