About Michael
Michael Hicks is a partner in the firm's Lubbock office. Michael's principal areas of practice are business and commercial law with an emphasis on representation of financial institutions. In addition, his practice includes business entity selection and formation. Michael also has extensive experience working with the firm's litigation attorneys on complex litigation matters involving loan workouts, bankruptcies, real estate and construction disputes, and related litigation matters.
Michael also has a growing practice in the area of renewable energy, with a particular focus on wind energy. His experience includes representing landowners in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico in negotiating and drafting wind energy leases.
Michael received his B.A. degree with honors from Angelo State University in May of 1992. He received his J.D. degree with highest honors from Texas Tech University School of Law in May of 1995. Michael was a recipient of The Order of the Coif designation for high attainments in the study of law. While in law school he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi and was a Vice Chairman of the Board of Barristers. He competed twice on the National Client Counseling teams while at Texas Tech.
Michael is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the American Bar Association, and the Lubbock County Bar Association.
