About Scott
Since joining the firm in May of 2001, Scott has played a key role in some of the firm's largest and most successful jury verdicts. Scott was co-counsel with Lynn Johnson in Frederick v. Swift, a semi-truck accident case where the jury returned a verdict of $23.5 Million in favor of our clients. It is believed to be the largest personal injury verdict in Kansas history. Scott was also co-counsel with former partner Steve Six in
Scott has enjoyed his greatest success in semi-truck accident cases. In addition to Frederick v. Swift, Scott received multi-million dollar settlements for his clients in Dunlap v. Rampley and Fowler v. McDonald Trucking, along with a successful settlement in the challenging case of Naeve v. UPS. Scott also has a history of success in automotive product liability cases. Along with summa cum laude) in 1996, also from the University of Missouri-Columbia. In 1995, he was one of only five juniors at the university to be inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Following law school, Scott served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable D. Brook Bartlett, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri.
Scott is licensed to practice in Missouri and Kansas. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association, the Kansas and Missouri Bar Associations, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and the Johnson County Bar Association.
Scott was raised in southeast Iowa before attending high school near the small northeast Missouri town of Kahoka. Even though he is based in Kansas City, Scott has handled a number of cases near Kahoka and the surrounding area and takes great pride in helping people of his hometown community. He is a die-hard fan and supporter of the University of Missouri Tigers. He met and eventually married his college sweetheart, Susie, while at MU. Scott and Susie are the proud parents of twins, Lilly and Luke and the newest addition, Samuel.
