Shawn Jiles is a Board-Certified Civil Trial Attorney with over 18 years of experience negotiating claims with insurance companies and trying cases against insurance companies. As the founder of Jiles & Fugate Law Group, a Personal Injury and Social Security Disability firm, Shawn has built a strong reputation for his commitment to clients and proven success in the courtroom. His certification as a Florida Bar Board-Certified Civil Trial Attorney reflects his extensive trial experience, legal expertise, and high ethical standards.

Shawn graduated with honors from the Thomas M. Cooley College of Law in December 2002. During law school, he was an editor of the Law Review, a member of the 60+ Elder Law Clinic, and participated in mock trial and moot court programs and competitions.

After graduation, Shawn moved to Central Florida and began his legal career as a criminal defense attorney in Bartow, FL. He represented clients charged with misdemeanors, DUI, and felonies, including life felonies and murder. During his two years as a criminal defense lawyer, Shawn tried more than 40 cases before a jury, receiving favorable verdicts in the vast majority of those cases.

He then transitioned into personal injury practice area, joining a local personal injury firm. Shawn further perfected his trial skills by trying several civil cases to verdict over the last 18 years. Civil cases, unlike criminal cases, involve disputes between two or more people or companies regarding their legal rights. Both criminal and civil cases present unique legal issues that Shawn is well versed to handle.

In 2014, Shawn founded Jiles Law, P.A., which is now known as Jiles & Fugate Law Group.

Shawn is involved in his community. He is a member of the Bartow Rotary Club, having served as its President, and has volunteered his time to teach high school students about the law, trial practice, and procedure. He is a former member of the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity of East Polk County and currently serves on the board of directors for Heartland for Children. Shawn is also a proud parent of a teenage daughter.
