Anthony P. Sgro is a partner and founding member of Sgro & Roger, LLC. After attending the University of San Diego for both his undergraduate education and law school, Mr. Sgro returned to Las Vegas and began practicing primarily in the area of criminal defense. In short order, he became a “death qualified” attorney and focused on defending those charged with capital murder offenses. ​ After trying numerous cases, Mr. Sgro used his unique trial experience to branch out into other areas of law, including personal injury, entertainment, and business law. Remarkably, he found his trial skill set transferred to those areas as well. Since the beginning of his career, Mr. Sgro has tried over 125 jury trials in both the civil and criminal arena. Most notably, as trial counsel, Mr. Sgro secured numerous acquittals in criminal cases including acquittals in extortion cases, drug cases, sexual assault cases and murder cases. He has been awarded millions of dollars by way of jury verdicts in medical malpractice cases and in personal injury cases. He also secured the largest slip and fall personal injury verdict to be awarded against Walgreens corporation, as well as a real estate trial verdict in excess of $55 million. Notably, that same trial experience allowed him to resolve the largest settlement for a single plaintiff personal injury case in Nevada history, which exceeded $30 million. ​ Several years ago, Mr. Sgro once again expanded his practice and business interests. He had the privilege of representing, and routing Prince’s 2013 West Coast tour, which spanned 13 U.S. cities. Most recently, his legal experience has allowed him to participate in the gaming arena, including both local and overseas gaming operations. ​ Years ago, Mr. Sgro teamed up with long time friend David Roger to create the firm that exists today. Mr. Roger is the former District Attorney for all of Clark County, Nevada, and he served in that capacity for approximately 25 years.

Danielle is an associate attorney at Sgro & Roger, representing clients in a range of personal injury, criminal, and family law matters. She is devoted to helping her clients obtain the most favorable outcome in the resolution of their cases. Danielle joins the firm after completing a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Eric Johnson in Department XX of the Eighth Judicial District Court. During her term, she assisted the Court render decisions in various civil and criminal matters. She also gained invaluable trial experience working on medical malpractice, wrongful death, catastrophic injury, and felony cases.

Mike prides himself in providing unparalleled customer service. In his youth, Mike was involved in a serious car accident. Mike hired a lawyer to sue the negligent driver that caused his injuries. Unfortunately, Mike experienced what most people experience when hiring a lawyer: poor customer service and ineffective representation. Specifically, Mike met with the lawyer for the initial consultation, only to never hear or speak from the lawyer again. In the end, the attorney settled Mike’s case for pennies on the dollar. After this unpleasant experience, Mike vowed that the Las Vegas personal injury attorneys at Valiente Mott Injury Attorneys would be different. Prior to attending law school, Mike was one of Las Vegas’ top real estate professionals. In the ten years before law school, Mike helped hundreds of clients with the acquisition and disposition of residential real estate and raw land. Mike’s exceptional customer service caused his real estate business to flourish only through word of mouth. Mike graduated at the top of his class from UNLV with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Thereafter, Mike also graduated top of his class from the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV. While attending Boyd, Mike received the CALI award five times for his legal writing, as well as his work in Evidence, Civil Procedure, and Contracts. Mike was also a member of Boyd’s National Moot Court team and won Best Brief at the Sutherland Cup Moot Court Competition. He was also honored as the sole recipient of his graduating class with the prestigious James E. Rogers Scholastic Achievement Award. He was further honored, along with only three of his peers, with the Scribes, The American Society of Legal Writers Award, which recognized excellence in legal writing while in law school. During this time, Mike defended big insurance companies against catastrophic injuries and multi-million-dollar claims. During this time, Mike participated in a seven-week trial in which the jury awarded over $164,000,000.00, the third largest verdict in Nevada history. After gaining valuable experience, Mike made the decision to start his own firm with the goal of helping people, not insurance companies. In 2017, Mike was voted one of Las Vegas’ Legal Elite. He has earned his reputation as a highly-respected member of the Las Vegas legal community and takes pride in receiving most of his cases as referrals from other attorneys, medical professionals, and, most rewardingly, prior clients. Jim joined the litigation team at Valiente Mott in May 2021 as the trial attorney. In his role with the firm, Jim drafts pleadings, oversees pre-trial discovery, takes and defends depositions, makes court appearances for hearings, prepares witnesses, and takes cases to trial. In bringing his talent and skill to Valiente Mott, Jim left his position as a trial attorney for one of Nevada’s most successful and well-known civil litigation firms. I am a first generation American. My parents were born and raised in Argentina so I have spoken Spanish since I first learned to speak. I graduated from Clark High School and received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Las Vegas, Nevada. After graduating from UNLV, I received my law degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California. During law school I was a member of the Law Review and elected as the Executive Editor of the International Law Journal. I graduated law school magna cum laude and in the top 4% of my class. I received the Am Jur Award for receiving the highest grade in my class for Criminal Procedure, Civil Procedure II, and Comparative Law. After graduating law school I took and passed the Nevada and California Bar examinations. Upon receiving my law license, I began working at Alverson, Taylor, Mortensen & Sanders, a civil litigation law firm in Las Vegas. As an associate attorney I defended medical doctors and dentists in medical malpractice cases, manufacturers in products liability cases, and numerous diverse companies in personal injury cases. After a year and a half at Alverson & Taylor, I joined the Clark County Public Defender’s Office and spent twelve years representing thousands of indigent defendants in diverse criminal matters. My first two years at the Public Defender’s Office were spent working in the Juvenile Division. I handled thousands of juvenile delinquency cases, including contested hearings and adult certifications. I argued a juvenile appeal before the Nevada Supreme Court, which resulted in a published opinion and victory for my client: In re T.R., 119 Nev. 646 (2003). After two years in the Juvenile Division, I transferred to the adult office of the Public Defender’s Office and spent the next year two years handling felony, gross misdemeanor, and misdemeanor cases. Thereafter, I was assigned to the sexual assault team where I spent five years handling life sentence cases of sexual assault and lewdness with a child. My last three years at the Public Defender’s Office I worked exclusively handling murder and death penalty cases. Although my time at the Public Defender’s Office was very rewarding, my desire to create and build a top notch private law firm that could provide clients with unique and exceptional legal representation led me to establish the Nobles & Yanez Law Firm. Based on my diverse and extensive criminal and civil litigation experience, there are almost no type of cases that I have not personally handled.

While at the Public Defender’s office, the majority of Nate’s time was spent in the courtroom, where he gained invaluable experience as a trial lawyer. Nate left the Public Defender’s office to reunite with Mike and Tim to add his unique blend of experience to be a powerful advocate to those who have been injured. Nate received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. Year in and year out, UVA is ranked as a top ten law school by U.S News & World Report. While attending law school, Nate completed an externship with the Honorable Chief Judge Gloria Navarro of the United States District Court for the District of Nevada. Prior to attending law school, Nate graduated magna cum laude from Brigham Young University. Nate’s experience working for large corporations and insurance companies and the indigent at the Public Defender’s Office, has brought him to the realization that his passion is helping those who cannot help themselves. He understands that being a lawyer is a great responsibility and privilege. He prides himself on serving his clients to the very best of his abilities. In his free time, Nate loves to be with his wife, Jan, and their four children, Elin, Will, Jude, and Eva. He also enjoys a round of golf and a good book. Laura Lomeli is a personal injury attorney born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology, from Nevada State University. She received her Juris Doctor from the William S. Boyd School of Law, where she was actively involved in community-focused leadership and advocacy.

Wendy Arce, Associate at Valiente Mott, was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and moved with her family to the U.S. in 2001. Wendy was raised in Las Vegas where she attended college and law school, creating strong connections with the Las Vegas community. Wendy’s passion for assisting clients stems from her previous role as a Paralegal. She began working at a law firm at just 18 years old where she worked through college and learned the particularities of the personal injury field. After college, Wendy pursued her lifelong dream of becoming a lawyer.

Zachary focused his law school experience on criminal law, externing with a local public defender’s office, the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada, and multiple criminal defense firms. Zachary also served in the law school’s criminal defense appellate clinic, where his brief on behalf of an indigent client earned the law school’s award for excellence. After law school, Zachary relocated to Tampa, Florida where he began his career with the Hillsborough County Public Defender’s Office before moving to a highly regarded criminal defense firm in the Tampa area. He has defended individuals accused of a broad range of offenses, including DUI, battery, drug and weapons possession, sex crimes, and homicide. Zachary returned to Las Vegas in 2020. Prior to joining Sgro and Roger, he served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Ellie Roohani in the Eighth Judicial District Court, managing a split docket of criminal and civil cases. Outside of the office, Zachary enjoys traveling, playing poker, and providing long-distance support for his University of Connecticut basketball teams.
