Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
In the past few years, it has been a pleasure to help a broad range of clients. From helping a widow deal with a complicated and poorly-planned estate that was being administered by hostile in-laws, to exposing fraudulent transfers meant to avoid creditors, to holding an accountant responsible for steering his clients into a Ponzi scheme, no two cases have been alike.
How did you build a successful practice?
I have built a successful practice by learning from some immensely talented attorneys, working hard to understand the intricacies of Colorado law, taking pride in my written work, and diligently preparing for all hearings, depositions, and trials.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Clients should seek out attorneys who are willing to put in the hard work required to obtain a successful outcome, can think creatively, and are passionate about seeking justice.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge--whether it's of the particular rules, the opposing counsel, or a specific judge, mediator, or arbitrator--is important!
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
In an free phone consultation, I can outline likely claims and defenses based on the information I'm provided, evaluate some strengths and weaknesses in the fact pattern, and discuss potential terms of engagement.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
In a free phone consultation, I like to understand the basic facts--the who/what/when/where/why details of a dispute. Additionally, having a copy of any relevant contracts is helpful.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I carefully consider whether to take on each and every case. I do not have a "volume" based practice. Rather, in taking only select matters, I can more effectively focus on the client issues and devote the required time to work up the case.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding aspect of my job is the relief I can see on my client's faces when we resolve their matter.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I enjoy soccer, skiing, and cycling.
Are you involved in your community?
I am involved in my community, having served on several nonprofit boards and in an elected officer capacity for political groups.
