About Adrienne

For ten years, Adrienne Baranoff has successfully represented her clients in employment and personal injury matters.  She is a graduate of the University of Quinnipiac School of Law and has been a civil litigator in New York and New Jersey since 1996.  Ms. Baranoff devotes most of her time to representing employees who are victims of unlawful employment discrimination, including sexual harassment; gender, race and age discrimination; Family Medical Leave Act claims, as well as other work-related torts.  She also represents victims of accidents including: motor vehicle accidents; slip and falls and other accidents arising out of the negligence of others as well as all forms of commercial litigation.

She has successfully litigated claims in the above areas and has obtained millions of dollars in awards and settlements against a number of large corporations, banks and individual defendants on behalf of her clients.  She also represents employees in negotiating and litigating employment contracts and severance agreements. 

Ms. Baranoff is a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association New York Chapter where she is a member of the Judicial Committee.  She is also an active member in the Richmond County Bar Association.  She is a member of the Bar of New York, and New Jersey where she practices in State and Federal District and Appellate Courts. 

Most recently, Ms. Baranoff was successful in obtaining a positive result in Petrosino v. Bell Atlantic in the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.  Petrosino was a sexual harassment case that has clarified the standard for sexual harassment in the Second Circuit and has been widely cited by numerous plaintiffs since, in opposing summary judgment motions for dismissal in the Second Circuit.  She also recently was able to secure a probable cause determination from the EEOC for one of her clients and now represents her client in EEOC v. Yellowbook, USA, Inc., where the EEOC has filed suit on her client's behalf in yet another sex harassment suit in New Jersey.

Ms. Baranoff is especially interested in securing the civil rights of women in employment, and has spoken on Sexual Harassment and other employment issues in various forums, most recently having served as Speaker and Moderator of an Intermediate/Advanced Continuing Legal Education Lecture sponsored by the New York County Lawyers Association entitled Emerging Issues in New York Employment Discrimination Law, June 2005.
