Akanksha Kalra, Esquire practices exclusively in the area of immigration and nationality law and provides legal representation to businesses and individuals throughout the United States. She has successfully represented information technology companies, businesses, hospitals, schools, universities, non-profit organizations, and other entities in immigration matters. Ms. Kalra’s clients range from computer professionals, engineers, architects, entrepreneurs, scientists, researchers, healthcare workers to international entertainers, artists and athletes.

While Ms. Kalra is involved with all facets of immigration, her focus is on business and professional immigration matters. Ms. Kalra has extensive experience in obtaining nonimmigrant work visas such as H-1B, L-1, TN, E, O, P, R, B-1/B-2; PERM labor certifications; and employment based permanent residence. Ms. Kalra has significant experience in matters related to work visas for physicians, nurses, religious workers, extraordinary ability petitions, family/marriage based immigrant visas (“green cards”) and naturalization.

Ms. Kalra, who was born in India, immigrated to the United States in 1992. She is a graduate of University of Pennsylvania Law School where she received her LL.M. degree in International Law in 1997. Prior to coming to the United States, Ms. Kalra obtained her LL.B. degree with Top Honors from Law Faculty, University of Delhi in 1990. She graduated at the top of her class with B.A. (Hons.) from Punjab University, India. Ms. Kalra is admitted to the New York Bar and United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association and the Montgomery County Bar Association.

Ms. Kalra has significant personal ties to the immigration experience and is committed to providing high quality professional services and individual attention to clients. She works with businesses to develop immigration strategies and policies to manage an international workforce and ensure corporate compliance. She regularly advises corporate clients on the impact of immigration regulations on their business and human resource needs. Ms. Kalra has written several articles on immigration related topics and is frequently invited as a speaker to address international students at colleges and universities.

In addition to her immigration practice, Ms. Kalra has experience in corporate law and international business transactions and has authored in-house publications on foreign collaboration and investments by multinational corporations in India.

Ms. Kalra has been a Pennsylvania resident for eighteen years. She is dedicated to community service and serves on many civic associations and boards. She is a volunteer for numerous non-profit organizations in the Greater Philadelphia area and has contributed many pro-bono efforts on behalf of various groups. Ms. Kalra is fluent in Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu and has a good understanding of Gujarati.
