About Alan

ALAN J. COHEN is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney specializing in Personal Injury, Insurance Law, Commercial, Construction, Employment and Education Law.  His practice involves litigation in all courts.

Born in 1954, he obtained his B.A. from Muhlenberg College in 1977 and his J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1981 where he was an Editor of the Pepperdine Law Review.  Following law school, he served as a Judicial Clerk to Hon. Robert Steedle and Hon. Gerald Weinstein of the New Jersey Superior Court in 1981-2.  He was admitted to the bar of New Jersey in 1981; bar of California in 1982; U.S. Supreme Court in 1985 and bar of Massachusetts in 1999.

Mr. Cohen is a Trustee of the Atlantic County Bar Association and a Coordinator for the Haneman Inn of Court.  He is also a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, American Bar Association, California State Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association.  He is a frequent speaker for the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education (I.C.L.E.).  He served as Solicitor for the Northfield Board of Education and now serves as Labor Counsel for the Brigantine Board of Education.

Mr. Cohen is qualified as a R.1:40 statewide Mediator, Superior Court designated Arbitrator and a certified Arbitrator and Mediator for the American Arbitration Association.  Additionally he was a New Jersey Supreme Court appointed member of the District I Ethics Committee serving as it's Chair in 2003-04.  He also served as a District I Fee Arbitrator.
