With a distinguished career as a federal prosecutor and military officer, Alex brings extensive experience in high-stakes litigation, having completed 17 federal jury trials. He is dedicated to advocating for justice, particularly in complex criminal and civil cases, and has a proven track record in both the courtroom and in legal leadership. Prior to joining Singleton Schreiber, Alexander served as a Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice in Albuquerque where he led a team of prosecutors handling violent crime cases, including homicides, sexual assaults, kidnapping, and firearms offenses. He also focused on Indian Country crimes, working to improve public safety in New Mexico’s Native communities. Alex forged deep relationships with Tribal leaders and law enforcement, and helped the Department of Justice to increase training, strengthen inter-governmental relationships, and improve the tempo and quality of investigations and prosecutions of crimes with a focus on Mission and Murdered Indigenous Persons and sexual assault cases. Prior to his appointment as a Supervisor, Alex personally prosecuted nearly 200 federal felony cases, including successful outcomes in appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Alex’s military experience further complements his legal expertise. He served twelve years in the United States Marine Corps, holding several key positions, including in the Office of the Chief Prosecutor of Military Commissions, as a prosecutor in Okinawa, Japan, an Aide-de-Camp, acting supervisory prosecutor, and complex trial prosecutor for all Marine units in the western U.S., where he led high-profile, special victim, and other significant cases. After transitioning to the reserves, he served as a law of war instructor, a supervisory prosecutor for the Department of Defense’s busiest prosecution office, and an administrative separations board hearing officer. In late 2024, Alex joined the New Mexico Air National Guard, where he now serves as Deputy Staff Judge Advocate, advising Wing leadership on military justice, operational law, and ethics, and ensuring compliance with the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Earlier in his career, he clerked for New Mexico Supreme Court Justice Edward L. Chávez—an experience that further refined his ability to navigate complex legal matters with discipline and strategic insight.
