Lawyer.com Member Questionnaire
Please describe a case(s) in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
In the last few years, we have obtained settlements for many different people, including people who were injured by medical mistake, people injured in accidents and people whose insurance companies did not treat them fairly. The amounts of the settlements are confidential, but, in each instance, the clients were satisfied. We've also helped successfully defend people and businesses, small and large, who have been sued for both breach of contract and personal injury. We helped land owners obtain just compensation from the state after the state condemned their land. We were able to save a man's family home after his neighbor tried to block his access. These are only some of the litigation cases that we've successfully handled in the past couple of years. We handle all types of litigation from small claims court all the way to appellate court. In addition, we help many people each year with their wills and estates, both preparing wills and other estate documents and handling estate disputes.
How did you build a successful practice?
Years of hard work and referrals from other attorneys and former clients who have come to appreciate our hard work.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Clients should look for a lawyer who is willing to explain the law to them in terms they can understand, and who will candidly assess the strengths and weaknesses of their case.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge is important: it helps you know anticipate how local witnesses, attorneys and judges might act in a given situation
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
In a free phone consultation we can listen to the prospective client's story and determine if he or she has a viable case and whether we can help.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
In a free phone consultation we need the basic facts of the case: who, what, when, where, and why along with some case specific information (e.g., was there a signed writing in a contract case, etc.). It is important that clients preserve e-mails and other documents that might be relevant to their cases.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
Unlike other attorneys, we handle both big and small cases for both plaintiffs and defendants. This sort of of experience gives us a perspective that few other firms have.
