About Alexis
Alexis Djivre is a trial attorney. Her practice focuses on products liability, catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, and automobile liability, including tire tread separation and vehicle rollover cases. Alexis is admitted to the State Bar of California and to practicing law in all state and federal courts in California, including the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Alexis is a member of a variety of legal organizations, including the American Bar Association, Litigation Section; the California Bar Association; and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Litigation Section. Since 2009, Alexis has been the Los Angeles County Liaison for the Consumer Attorneys of California Women's Caucus. She is also a member of the New Lawyers' Division of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, and a member of the American Association for Justice. She is the co-author of The sophisticated-user defense: Abuse and Misuse which was published in the April 2009 issue of the Advocate Magazine.
Alexis began her legal career with Rose, Klein & Marias, working first as a law clerk and then as an Associate lawyer in its Liability Department. She represented plaintiffs in complex civil litigation, including environmental/mass torts, consumer class actions, product liability cases, employment discrimination/wrongful termination and Civil RICO actions. She sued "organic" milk producers for falsely advertising their milk as "organic" and worked with the California State Attorney General's Office in prosecuting Proposition 65 cases, including one against the potato chip industry for its failure to warn the public about the presence of the carcinogen "acrylamide" in potato chips. She represented thousands of grocery workers in a Civil RICO suit against Ralphs, Kroger and Fred Meyer Stores resulting from a 2006 indictment against Ralphs for falsely employing workers during a labor strike. Alexis also handled a class action on behalf of several thousand stock brokers against RBC Dain Rauscher Investments for wage and hour violations.
Before becoming a lawyer, Alexis spent nearly three years working in film and television production with such companies as 20th Century Fox Studios, Turner Entertainment, and KCET-TV. While on jury duty, she responded to a job posting and became a Court Clerk for the Los Angeles Superior Court. For nearly 18 years, she worked with several judges in unlimited civil, complex civil and domestic support courtrooms, and had the privilege of watching some of California's greatest trial attorneys in action. These experiences, combined with a keen desire to help others unable to help themselves, motivated her to become a plaintiff's lawyer.
Alexis earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Smith College in 1985. In 2002, she began attending night school at Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, where she earned her Juris Doctor degree in 2006. While a student, Alexis studied international law in China and Costa Rica. She also interned with the Loyola Center for Conflict Resolution in conjunction with becoming certified as a Cal-DRPA (California Dispute Resolution Program Act) mediator. Since 2005, Alexis has regularly volunteered with Public Counsel as a pro bono attorney for foster care adoptions of disabled children.
Alexis was born and raised in Los Angeles, returning back to California after her college years in Massachusetts. A woman of diverse interests and a great passion for ethnic cuisine, Alexis organized a dining out group called the "Eastside Foodies" in 2008 and which now boasts over 750 members. She enjoys scuba diving and is an avid photographer. Alexis is a world traveler and is always planning her next vacation to new and exotic destinations.
