About Amanda

Amanda Brasfield is a highly experienced trial attorney with a focus on personal injury litigation. From medical malpractice to construction accident negligence, Amanda has obtained a number of multi-million dollar settlements and verdicts.

Amanda has worked on dozens of complicated medical malpractice cases involving birth injuries, cerebral palsy, surgical mishaps, delayed diagnosis of cancer, and missed diagnosis of conditions such as heart attack, stroke, infection, sepsis, hemorrhage, meningitis, abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysm (AAA and TAA), and shock. From depositions through trial, Amanda works tirelessly to uncover what proper medical practices were not followed and what steps could have been taken to prevent injuries and deaths related to medical care. In each of her medical malpractice cases, Amanda works with dedication and tenacity to achieve justice for those who have been harmed by the medical providers in which they placed their trust.

$8 MILLION Medical Malpractice

$10 MILLION Medical Malpractice

$12.5 MILLION Wrongful Death

An unarmed 23-year-old African American man was shot and killed by an off-duty Chicago Police officer at a CTA train station. The officer was trying to break up a fist fight that did not involve the decedent. The officer admitted in his deposition that the shooting was not justified and the case proceeded to trial on damages only after the City of Chicago admitted its liability.

$8 MILLION Medical Malpractice

A 69-year-old woman was seen by her internist on several occasions over a three-month span. During each visit, the patient’s blood pressure was significantly elevated. However, the internist did not diagnose hypertension and did not prescribe any medications to lower her blood pressure. Consequently, the patient suffered a massive hypertensive hemorrhagic stroke which left her permanently disabled requiring 24-hour assistance.

$7.1 MILLION Premises Liability

A 19-year-old man was shot in the neck while dining at an Arby's restaurant in Elmhurst, resulting in quadriplegia. The restaurant franchisee was found liable due to lack of training for employees, permitting loitering in the restaurant, and failure to notify police of incidents which had occurred on the day of and the day before the shooting.
