About Amy

For the past 15 years, Amy Gullifer has championed consumers' rights throughout Ohio. Amy began her legal career as a legal services attorney in Southeastern Ohio in 2001, and transitioned to private practice in 2003. While in private practice, Amy has focused her practice on enforcing clients' rights under the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Crediting Reporting Act, Federal Truth in Lending Act, and state consumer protection statutes. In 2013, Amy represented the National Consumer Law Center (NCLC) and the Center for Responsible Lending by co-authoring the amicus brief to the Ohio Supreme Court in the payday lending case Ohio Neighborhood Finance, Inc. v. Scott, Case No. 2013-0103 (Ohio 2013). She also represented classes of consumers in class action litigation against home builders and debt collectors. Stuart, et al. v. Dominion Homes Financial Services, Inc. et al. (Case No. 2:06-cv-00137 (S.D. Ohio 2006); Stewart, et al. v. Cheek & Zeehandelar, et al. (Case No. 2:06-cv-00736 (S.D. Ohio 2007).

Amy currently focuses her practice on representing consumers and small businesses in federal bankruptcy court in Columbus and Dayton, Ohio. She advises individuals and small businesses interested in filing bankruptcy under Chapters 7, 11, and 13 of the Bankruptcy Code. Amy has spoken on bankruptcy and consumer protection law before the Columbus Bar Association, Columbus Legal Aid Society, Ohio State Bar Association, American Bankruptcy Law Forum, National Association of Chapter Thirteen Trustees, and the Credit Education Coalition.

Amy is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, Columbus Bar Association, Union County Bar Association, and the American Bankruptcy Law Forum. Amy is a board member of the Credit Education Coalition, and she has been appointed to the Judicial Liaison Committee as well as the Trustee Liaison Committee.
