Andrew Leon Bertrand, Attorney

Attorney Andrew Bertrand was a Probation Officer with the Drug & Task Force in New York City and later in Golden & Canon City, Colorado. He served 2 years on the Colorado Governors' DUI Task Force. After law school he was District Court Prosecutor in New Hampshire and moved to Fort Collins in 1999. Andrew was named 2005 Criminal Defense Attorney of the Year by the Consumer Business Review, an honor also given to him in 2004.

He received the 2005 Judge Conrad Ball Award. Bertrand is the first defense attorney recognized for this award. The April 13, 2005 Larimer County New Release states"He was nominated by the Colorado Public Defender's Office, who compared him with Buzz Lightyear and Mighty Mouse in his “enthusiastic dedication in seeking justice and helping others. The Public Defender's Office wrote that Bertrand often accepts cases-in-need pro bono, is a skilled mediator, offers personal encouragement and assistance to clients, and a man with a great sense of humor and spirit.”....."The honorable Judge Ball was instrumental in creating Community Corrections in Larimer County and the State of Colorado in the mid 1070's. Each spring the award is given in his memory to a recipient who has significantly contributed toward improving the quality of the criminal justice system in the County".
