About Angelo
Angelo Paul Sevarino is a solo practitioner with offices located at 110 Day Hill Road, Windsor, Connecticut. Prior to entering the practice of law he was employed in regional and home office managerial positions within the commercial property-casualty insurance industry holding positions in commercial underwriting, commercial claims and field operations.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology (BA '71) and Master of Arts degree in educational psychology (MA '72) from the University of Connecticut. While in graduate studies he was a graduate teaching assistant instructing a course in educational tests and measurements. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Western New England College School of Law (JD '78) and is admitted to all courts of the State of Connecticut, as well as the United States Federal District Court of Connecticut (1980) and the United States Supreme Court (1984). He practices in the fields of workers' compensation, social security, civil litigation, appeals and Medicare Set-aside consultations and preparation.
He is a Board Certified Specialist in Workers' Compensation and serves on the Examining Committee for applicants in the certification process and sits as a member of the Workers' Compensation Commission Legal Advisory Committee. He is nationally credentialed by the Commission on Health Care Certification (CHCC) as a Medicare Set-Aside Consultant - Certified (MSCC)1
He has been active in the Connecticut Bar Association since 1980. He is a former officer and served as Secretary of the Connecticut Bar Association (1996-1997); was the founder and first chair of the CBA Young Lawyers Section Workers' Compensation Committee(1982-1984); is a member of the CBA Workers' Compensation Section Executive Committee since its inception serving as its founder and first chair (1984-1986); was the founder and first editor of Compensation Quarterly, the quarterly review published by the CBA's Workers' Compensation Section(1990-1992); founded and chaired the Lawyer Specialty Committee (1993-1997) and served as Connecticut's Liaison to the American Bar Association Workers' Compensation Committee(1994-1997).
He is the recipient of the 2005 Achievement Award presented by the Connecticut Italian American Bar Association and the 2007 recipient of the Edward Pomeranz/Edward O'Brien Memorial Award for Excellence and Achievement presented by the Workers' Compensation Section of the Connecticut Bar Association. He is rated "Av" by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory and is listed in New England Super Lawyers 2008 and Connecticut Super Lawyers 2009 .
He holds appointments as a Magistrate for the Superior Court, Geographic Districts of Manchester, Rockville and New Britain and as a State Attorney Trial Referee/Arbitrator/ Factfinder for the Judicial Districts of Hartford and New Britain. He is a member of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and its Workers' Compensation Committee, a member of Workers Injury Law & Advocacy Group (WILG), and a sustaining member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimant's Representatives (NOSSCR).
Attorney Sevarino authors "Connecticut Workers' Compensation After Reforms" now in its Third Edition and "Settlements, Offsets & Set-Asides" both published by the Atlantic Law Book Company, West Hartford, Connecticut. His new publication entitled "Practitioner's Guide to Settlements, Offsets and Set-asides" is scheduled for release in August 2009. He authored "Connecticut Workers' Compensation- Basic Practice Manual" and co-authored "Connecticut Lawyers' Deskbook" (Workers' Compensation) both published by the Connecticut Bar Association.
He is a frequent lecturer at professional and business conferences and continuing legal education seminars on the subjects of workers' compensation, social security and Medicare and is a former adjunct faculty member of Tunxis Community College where he lectured in Business Law.
