About Anita

Anita Flannigan Steenson, a graduate of Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut, class of 1985, cum laude, earned her law degree in 1989 from The University of Bridgeport School of Law. She was invited to be a member of the Probate Law Journal and the Moot Court Board. Additionally, she was a member of the first place team of the North East Regional ABA Appellate Advocacy Competition, a member of the Phi Delta Phi, Burns-Inn Honors Chapter, and awarded an American Jurisprudence Book Award for legal research and writing.

Attorney Steenson's practice is centered on her life experiences and her genuine concern and interest in serving her clients. The emerging field of reproductive law, as well as elder law, probate & estate planning, and residential real estate for Connecticut and Florida clients are her current areas of interest.

Integrating diverse client needs and providing effective, decisive action is her hallmark as a successful attorney. She has a unique combination of powerful litigation skills as lead and second-chair trial counsel in complex jury and bench trials, and intricate transactional and contract law experience spanning over almost two decades.

Currently, Anita is an active member of the Connecticut and Florida State Bar Associations, the Federal Bars for District of Connecticut and the Southern District of Florida. Prior to private practice, Anita's career involved public service. She was appointed as a Judicial Staff Attorney for the 17th Judicial Circuit in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She served simultaneously in the civil, criminal, probate, and juvenile divisions counseling and advising the court, resulting in a focus on Capital Murder litigation. Anita was also appointed as a Special Master in the Juvenile Division. She was responsible for presiding over evidentiary hearings making findings of fact and resolving disputes relating to the value of financial losses suffered by victims of crime. She then served as an Assistant State Attorney for Broward County, Florida, and then as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of New Haven, Connecticut in the litigation department.

Anita was named an American Scholar by the American Inns of Court Foundation in 1995. She was one of two attorneys in the United States selected to study the British legal system as a visiting member of the Crown Prosecution Service and the Inner Temple of Barristers. The award recognized young lawyers for excellence in professionalism, ethics, and civility.

Serving clients as an attorney is an honor, a privilege, and a life-long commitment that Anita enjoys.
