About Anthony

Anthony B. Ludovico, a member of the firm, focuses his practice solely in the field of trusts and estates, having developed his estate planning experience both in private practice and as a member of the Law Department at Hartford National Bank (a bank that long served Connecticut and the northeast region). As in-house counsel to the Bank's Trust Division for 20 years, he concentrated on the review of wills and trusts, expanding his ability to assist clients and their attorneys in developing clear and plain language in drafting complex estate plans. While at the Bank, he served on a number of management and administrative committees, lending his legal expertise to the proper oversight of the Bank's trust activities. As Secretary to the Bank's Florida trust subsidiary, he oversaw its compliance with trust company regulation. He used his organizational and computer skills to automate and manage the Bank's Estate Tax Department.

He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association's Estates & Probate Section, and serves on that Section's subcommittees addressing legislative proposals and standards of practice for attorneys who serve as fiduciaries. For several years, he served as a legislative liaison to the Estates and Probate Section as well as the Association's Elder law Section, monitoring, offering testimony, and advising with regard to state legislative developments. Because of his experience and concern for needed reform of the state's probate system, the Association appointed him to a Task Force to study and make legislative recommendations on the issue. He has written articles and presented seminars on tax and estate related issues for state and local bar associations, paralegal, professional and community organizations.

Mr. Ludovico volunteered his public policy insight as a member of AARP's National Legislative Policy Council (2000-2006) and continues to be an advocate on state legislative issues affecting the elderly. Prior to his role as Council Chair, he had been chair of that Council's Consumer and Housing Issues Committee, and had also been chair of AARP's State Legislative Committee in Connecticut. He continues to volunteer as an Instructor in the Association's Driver Safety Program. He served as a member of a Consumer Education Advisory Council to oversee the provision of information for protection of consumers during the restructuring of Connecticut's electric and telecommunications industries.

As a former Board member of PLAN of Connecticut, hie, (a nonprofit organization that administers trusts for families with disabled children), Mr. Ludovico now serves on that organization's Advisory Board. As former President and member of the Board of the North Central Connecticut Area Agency on Aging, he helped oversee the disbursement of grants and funds for organizations serving Connecticut's elderly under the Older Americans Act. As Treasurer and chair of that Agency's Program Development Committee, he encouraged the promotion of the Agency's outreach efforts as a vital source of assistance to the elderly in the State's Capitol Region.

Currently, Mr. Ludovico volunteers as Vice President and member of the Board of Trustees of the Funeral Consumer Alliance of Connecticut, Inc., a nonprofit entity that monitors compliance with the federal Funeral Rule that governs providers of funeral services. In his own community, He has served as a member of the Town of Canton, Connecticut Library Development Committee, the Canton Center Historic District Commission, and is currently a member of the Town's Charter Revision Commission.
