About Ashley

Ashley Burton obtained her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from West Virginia University and her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Washington and Lee University School of Law.  Ms. Burton is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia and before the Federal District Court for the Southern and Northern Districts of West Virginia.  She is a member of the West Virginia State Bar Association and the Kanawha County Bar Association.

Ashley is a graduate of the National Institute of Trial Attorneys Trial Academy in Chicago, Illinois.  She has attended the National DRI conference on Employment Litigation and is a member of the DRI Young Lawyers Committee.  She is a graduate of Leadership Kanawha Valley, an active member of the Charleston Rotary Club and the American Inns of Court.

In her career, she has handled cases in many areas of employment law and defense litigation.  In this regard, she has defended claims of harassment and discrimination, vehicular negligence, products liability, premises liability, bad faith litigation, civil rights and toxic tort defense.  Further, Ashley has organized and participated in several seminars educating employers, insurance carriers, private clients and attorneys on employment issues including updates on the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, Wage and Hour issues, violations under the West Virginia Human Rights Act, workers' compensation, gender discrimination and sexual harassment, and employment issues for public employers.
