Attorney Jason G. Miller brings over 15 years of criminal law experience to Alpert Schreyer Criminal Defense Attorneys. As a former assistant state’s attorney for Anne Arundel County, he has handled every type of criminal defense matter, from DUI and traffic-related matters to homicide. Having tried hundreds of criminal bench trials and dozens of criminal jury trials, Mr. Miller’s vast experience positions him well to challenge prosecutors at every facet of a trial. He began his legal career at the State’s Attorney’s Office and rose through the ranks from law clerk to Chief of the District Court. Mr. Miller spent time handling DUI’s and criminal misdemeanors, burglaries, violent crimes, and sexual offenses. He received a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) certification in the administration of standardized field sobriety tests in 2010. He has also attended the National Computer Forensics Institute twice for training related to computer forensics and cellular devices. For the last five years Mr. Miller was trusted with supervising and training all new attorneys. In 2021, he was named Director of Attorney Training for the entire State’s Attorney’s Office. I have had the privilege of being in private law practice in Maryland for the last 19 years. I was a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Howard S. Chasanow, both on the Circuit Court for Prince George's County, as well as on the Maryland Court of Appeals. Steve, originally from Baltimore, holds a JD and an MBA in Finance from the University of Maryland. Before becoming the Managing Partner of Cromwell & Company, Steve was the Controller for NFR Security, Inc. Prior to that, he held controller positions with other high tech firms in the Baltimore Washington corridor and a senior analyst position in the treasury department of ICMA Retirement Corporation in downtown DC. Steve has significant experience in tax preparation, representing clients before the IRS, auditing, business valuation, and investment advisory. William A. Simmons received his J.D. from the George Mason University School of Law in 1982 and received his undergraduate education at Randolph-Macon College, graduating with a B.A. in History in 1977.
