About Raymond

Raymond W. Belair began his career as a defense lawyer dealing primarily with product liability, aviation and professional liability matters for both foreign and domestic companies and insurers. His practice had initial emphasis on appellate work, in which he successfully wrote and argued a number of appeals in both New York and federal appeals courts.

For over 30 years his practice has focused on trials. This has been primarily in defense of physicians and others involved in providing healthcare services. His practice has also included the trials of product liability, legal malpractice, construction site injuries, commercial disputes and cases involving issues of negligent highway design.

He has represented many physicians successfully in disciplinary matters involving hospital privileging, as well as before the Health Department’s Office of Professional Medical Conduct. The same is true as to other healthcare practitioners, as respects the Education Department’s Office of Professional Discipline and the New York Medicaid Inspector General.

He has also successfully prosecuted and tried many serious personal injury cases to verdict, resulting in very substantial recoveries. These have involved many different theories of negligence, design, manufacture and professional liability.
