Steve, originally from Baltimore, holds a JD and an MBA in Finance from the University of Maryland. In addition to advanced degrees, Steve has completed several training programs on representing taxpayers before the IRS including earning the NTPI Tax Fellow® and Certified Tax Resolution Specialist (CTRS) designations. Before becoming the Managing Partner of Cromwell & Company, Steve was the Controller for NFR Security, Inc. As a key member of the management team, he contributed to the success of completing the sale of NFR Security to Check Point Software Technologies, Ltd., (Ticker CHKP) and the post-integration support of the two companies. Prior to that, he held controller positions with other high tech firms in the Baltimore Washington corridor and a senior analyst position in the treasury department of ICMA Retirement Corporation in downtown DC. Steve has significant experience in tax preparation, representing clients before the IRS, auditing, business valuation, and investment advisory. Occasionally when time permits, Steve has taught accounting courses at local universities and community colleges in the DC Metro area. In his free time, Steve enjoys being outdoors running, hiking, and biking. On Saturday afternoons in the fall, you can find Steve at University of Maryland football games cheering on the Maryland Terrapins.

Christopher “Chris” M. Rolle is the founder and managing partner of our firm. As a seasoned trial lawyer he has appeared in no fewer than 14 different jurisdictions in the State and Federal courts of Maryland, including cases taken to the Maryland Court of Special Appeals and the Maryland Court of Appeals. He has been practicing law since 1988, so he has the experience to handle each matter effectively. Having received a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree from the prestigious Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Rolle is uniquely qualified to assist clients in complex business and financial matters. He also is a licensed Maryland real estate broker. After graduating from the University of Richmond in 1985 with a B.S. in business administration, Mr. Rolle earned his law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1988. From 1988 to 1991 he worked as a staff attorney in the Division of Enforcement of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission where he was responsible for investigating cases involving insider trading, complex financial fraud and market manipulation. In 1993, he earned his M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. While in law school, Mr. Rolle served as Editor in Chief of the Maryland Journal of International Law & Trade. He was also a member of the Moot Court Board. Mr. Rolle has taught classes on business, divorce and administrative law, and has been voted one of the top lawyers in Frederick by Frederick Magazine. He is admitted to practice in Maryland District, Circuit and appellate courts and in the United States Federal Court. Mr. Rolle is married and has four sons.

James “Jim” P. DeLorenzo joined the firm as an associate in 1999 and was named partner in 2001. Mr. DeLorenzo received his B.A. from the Pennsylvania State University in 1991 and his J.D. from the University of Baltimore in 1994. Mr. DeLorenzo is admitted to practice in the State of Maryland and in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. His over three decades of legal practice have taken him before virtually every jurisdiction in the State, including the Court of Special Appeals. Mr. DeLorenzo represents clients in domestic relations, criminal defense and personal injury matters. In the domestic relations area of his practice, Mr. DeLorenzo assists clients in drafting/negotiating Separation Agreements, obtaining divorces and litigating custody/visitation. Additionally, he is often appointed by the Court to represent children whose parents are involved in litigation related to their custody and/or visitation. Jim also served as the co-chair of the family law section of the Bar Association of Frederick County. Mr. DeLorenzo resides in Frederick County, Maryland with his children.

Michael “Mike” J. Dempsher joined the firm as an associate in 2013 and is now a partner. Mr. Dempsher received his B.S. from Towson University in 2004 and his J.D. from the University of Baltimore in 2007. Mr. Dempsher is admitted to practice in the State of Maryland. A Washington County native, Mr. Dempsher began his career as a judicial law clerk from 2007 through 2009 in Hagerstown. While serving as a Law Clerk, he had the privilege of working for multiple Washington County Circuit Court Judges on a variety of criminal and civil matters. Mr. Dempsher left Washington County in 2009 when he began serving as an Assistant State’s Attorney for Frederick County until 2013. During his tenure as a Frederick County prosecutor, Mr. Dempsher handled a wide variety of cases from misdemeanor traffic matters to serious complex felonies. As a former prosecutor, Mr. Dempsher has extensive experience in motor vehicle, drug, firearm and domestic violence cases. Mr. Dempsher represents clients in all areas of criminal law, personal injury, and domestic relations. In addition, as a partner at Rolle & Delorenzo, Mr. Dempsher handles divorce and custody/visitation cases as well as commercial, residential landlord tenant, and business legal matters. Mr. Dempsher resides in Washington County, Maryland with his wife and children.
