About Brenda
Brenda Neel Hight is Of Counsel with Fletcher, Farley, Shipman & Salinas, L.L.P. She is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Ms. Hight's practice focuses on general commercial litigation, including securities arbitration, professional liability disputes, catastrophic injury cases, construction project disputes and design defects, real estate litigation, and coverage issues representing insurers and policyholders.
Recently, Ms. Hight successfully defended a securities broker dealer against a tenant in common customer claim for a $3.9 million investment loss in a $162 million Ponzi scheme. Customer alleged lack of due diligence in screening the security and its sponsor, suitability, securities fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and negligent supervision of representative. The arbitration panel denied all claims of the customer, substantiating suitability, exercise of proper due diligence, and that the unforeseeable criminal acts from the Ponzi scheme caused the investment losses.
Ms. Hight received both her J.D. and her undergraduate degree (with highest honors) from the University of Texas. She is licensed to practice before all state and federal courts in Texas. Ms. Hight is a frequent speaker at educational seminars in securities, medical and insurance areas. Ms. Hight can be reached at 214-987-9600 or through email at brenda.hight@fletcherfarley.com.
