About Brian

Brian Barrido graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Ecology, Ethology and Evolution. In 2001, Mr. Barrido graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Law. While attending law school, Mr. Barrido participated in the Illinois State Appellate Defender Clinic and was a law clerk for the Cook County Public Defender's Office in both their post-conviction unit and felony trial division.

After graduation, Mr. Barrido began his legal career with the Cook County Public Defender's Office in the Juvenile Court system, Child Protection Division. After a successful litigation career in Juvenile Court, Mr. Barrido continued on in the Felony Division of the Cook County Public Defender's Office. While assigned at the Chicago Criminal Courts Building at 26th & California, Mr. Barrido tried and won many bench and jury trials as an Assistant Public Defender, including but not limited to drug cases, armed robbery, rape, possession of stolen motor vehicle, kidnapping, assault, battery, attempted murder and first-degree murder.

Based upon his success as an Assistant Public Defender in Chicago, Mr. Barrido was offered an opportunity to further his career in Santa Monica, California as one of the Assistant Director of Attorneys of the famed Cochran Firm. The firm was founded by renowned criminal defense and civil rights attorney Johnnie Cochran. While with The Cochran Firm, Mr. Barrido assisted in the oversight of hundreds of criminal defense attorneys nationwide and helped further the legacy of Mr. Cochran's firm throughout the United States.

Mr. Barrido eventually returned to Chicago and joined the firm founded by Richard Dvorak and Neil Toppel as a partner and the law firm of Dvorak, Toppel & Barrido, LLC was formed. The firm specializes in civil rights litigation and criminal defense.

Mr. Barrido currently serves on the Advisory Committee of the American
Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Illinois and was a past elected Board
Member. He is also a registered sports agent in the State of Arizona
and a former Doping Control Officer with the United States Anti-Doping Agency  and has strong ties to the Olympic movement  . Mr. Barrido
specializes in defending Olympic athletes accused in doping allegations.

Mr. Barrido is a member of the Illinois Bar, the general and trial bars of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the general bar of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin and the Illinois Capital Litigation Trial Bar (qualified as Lead Counsel).
