About Brian
Mr. Dershaw represents businesses, universities, insurance agencies, banks, and individuals, counseling and litigating matters primarily in the areas of employment and labor, real estate and construction, and business and contract matters. He also actively participates in alternative dispute resolution, including mediation, arbitration, and negotiations.
Mr. Dershaw's employment practice includes representing employees and employers in claims related to sexual harassment, race, age, gender and disability discrimination, wrongful discharge, collective bargaining, unemployment, worker's compensation, and covenants not to compete. He provides day-to-day counseling for clients in the areas of employee discipline, discharge, and the creation and negotiation of severance agreements. Mr. Dershaw's real estate and construction litigation experience includes matters relating to commercial landlord/tenant law, eminent domain, liens, fraudulent transfers, general and subcontractor issues, competitive bidding, and contract claims. Mr. Dershaw provides counsel to businesses on contracts, disputes, and operations. Mr. Dershaw is admitted to the practice of law in the State of Ohio, Commonwealth of Kentucky, United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Ohio, Kentucky, Cincinnati, and American Bar Associations. Mr. Dershaw is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Law (2000), where he was a member of the Moot Court Board and Justice of Phi Alpha Delta. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude, in Economics-Political Science and Spanish from Capital University. He is originally from Hilliard, Ohio.
Mr. Dershaw is actively involved in the local community. He serves on the Board of Trustees for the Peaslee Neighborhood Center and is a Barrister for the 2008-2009 Potter Stewart American Inn of Courts. He was honored as the recipient of the 2008 Capital University Young Alumni Award for his service to the community and profession. Mr. Dershaw and his family reside in Mariemont.
