About Bruce
Bruce Smith’s practice over the span of 20 plus years has emphasized natural resource, water, environmental, administrative and business law. His clientele includes individuals and businesses in the ranching, farming, mining and timber industries as well as public entities including municipalities, water and irrigation districts and canal companies. Mr. Smith has counseled clients on compliance, permitting, strategic planning and litigation in dealing with numerous regulatory matters including the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Water Act and CERCLA. He is a member and past chair of the Idaho State Bar Water Law Section, and Environmental Law Section, and the ABA Section on Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law. He has served on several boards and is a past member of the State Ground Water Quality Council and the Idaho State Bar Professional Conduct Review Board.
Mr. Smith received his J.D. from the University of Idaho in 1985. Following law school, he clerked for the Honorable Jesse Walters of the Idaho Court of Appeals. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Smith worked for a Certified Public Accounting firm and was a Wildlife Biologist for the U.S. Forest Service. His personal interests include hunting, fly fishing, cross-country skiing and travel.
