Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
My client was chased by police for several miles at speeds approaching 100 mph. He was charged with felony evading and drunk driving. At the arraignment, both the prosecutor and the judge wanted nothing less than state prison time. After successfully getting the felony evading charge reduced to a misdemeanor at the preliminary hearing, the matter ultimately resolved without any jail time for my client!
How did you build a successful practice?
One of the most important things a lawyer can do to build his practice is to really care about taking care of his clients. Number one rule is to return client's telephone calls.

Experience, specialized knowledge in the area of practice that you need. Then ask yourself if this is the lawyer you want standing next to you in court when you face a judge.

Local knowledge is particularly important in dealing with prosecutors. Knowing what kind of offers they typically make on certain types of cases can be especially valuable. Also, when they have previous experience dealing with you and they know your integrity and honesty, they're more likely to respond to your suggestions about how to resolve the case.
