About C. Scott
Mr. Applegate is originally from White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, and is a 1996 graduate of Greenbrier East High School. After graduation, Scott enlisted in the United States Army and served with the 2-47th Infantry Battalion at Fort Benning, Georgia. In 2001, he was awarded a Green to Gold Scholarship from the Commanding General of Fort Benning in order to complete his college education. Scott graduated from West Virginia University in 2003 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in Military Police Corps. He serves in the West Virginia Army National Guard and is a former commander of the 154th Military Police Company in Moundsville and Salem, West Virginia. While in this role, he has served the State and Nation in many capacities, which include supporting local law enforcement agencies during Hurricane Ivan in 2004 and leading a civil disturbance platoon during the 2005 Presidential Inauguration.
While at the College of Law, Scott was given the privilege to serve as the Summit, or President, of Mountain Honorary, the oldest and ranking honorary at WVU. Additionally, he participated in the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society, Magistrate Court Mediation Program, The Federalist Society, Republican Law Caucus, Lugar Trial Association and the Moot Court Board.
Mr. Applegate joined the law firm of Pullin, Fowler and Flanagan as an associate in August 2006. Prior to that date, he worked as a summer associate with the firm at its Beckley office. In January 2008, Mr. Applegate was selected to serve as minority counsel for the West Virginia House of Delegates' Minority Leader, Timothy P. Armstead, during the 2nd Session, 78th Legislature. The primary focus of his practice is insurance defense, coverage and claims.
Scott was married in March 2006 and lives with his wife, Emily, in Beckley West Virginia.
