About Catherine

Catherine Cachero is an associate in the firm's Honolulu office and is a member of the Litigation & Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group.  Ms. Cachero concentrates her practice on commercial litigation and real property disputes.  She also practices in the areas of immigration law and banking and finance.

At the University of Hawaii, William S. Richardson School of Law, Ms. Cachero served as Notes & Comments Editor of the Asian-Pacific Law and Policy Journal.  For two years, she represented the law school in the Hispanic National Bar Association's Annual Uvaldo Herrera National Moot Court Competition, with the team advancing to the semifinals during her first year on the team.  She served as Team Captain during her second year.  During her last year in law school and as part of the law school's Refugee and Immigration Law Clinic, Ms. Cachero appeared before Immigration Court Judge Dayna Beamer to help win asylum status for a 55-year old Laotian woman who suffered through detention, forced labor and abuse in the re-education camps of the Khmer Rouge regime.

Prior Work Experience

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Cachero worked as a Legal Assistant & Coordinator at Shearman & Sterling in New York.  During her two years at the firm, she conducted research for pre-merger notification and filings submitted to antitrust authorities, including the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Trade Commission, U.S. Securities Exchange Commission, and European Commission.  She also coordinated the workflow and managed large discovery matters with senior associates and partners relating to high-profile mergers and complex antitrust litigation involving fast-paced document review and multi-party productions of electronically stored information (ESI) and paper collection to regulatory authorities and opposing parties.

Ms. Cachero spent some time during her college and law school years researching and resolving various social and legal issues as a law clerk and/or fellow in various non-profit organizations and law firms located in Japan, Cambodia, the Philippines, and Hungary.
