Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
Within the last two (2) years, we have handled two (2) employment discrimination cases against the same large corporation, in which the corporation made major changes in the manner in which they discipline its employees. As a result of employment discrimination lawsuits, all terminations within a specific department of the corporation now have to be reviewed and ratified by the head of the human resource department. Previously, the head of the particular department had the exclusive to fire any employee. In addition to properly compensating our clients for the discrimination suffered, one of the goal of our lawsuits is to bring about changes in corporate behavior.
How did you build a successful practice?
A successful practice is built not by taking every case that comes into the office, but taking cases in which you can dedicate the time and effort to each client's case, and to respond to each client's inquiry in a timely manner. In addition to obtaining relief for our clients, attorney-client relationship is our prime focus. Many of our clients become lifelong clients and friends, and often refer their friends and family members to us.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
A client should look for an attorney who will have the time and dedication to their case, as well as someone who they can easily communicate with, and one who is easily accessible by phone, emails, etc.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge is important to the success of your case. Specific knowledge about a particular judge is helpful when filing motions or making legal arguments before the judge.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
We can provide a full consultation over the phone at no charge, including examination of relevant documents related to a potential case.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
We take a limited number of cases for a number of reasons. First, because each case requires sufficient time and dedication. If a law firm takes 100 litigated cases a year, there would be little time for each case. Second, so our clients can reach us quickly without having to call the office several times just to speak to us. Having a large case load leaves the firm with little time for each client. Third, taking a limited number of cases allows us to acquire in-depth and thorough knowledge and understanding of all legal issues related to the specific areas of law we handle.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding aspect of our job is at the end of a case, many of our clients are able to completely change the direction of their life, including starting a new business, purchasing a new home or pay off a large debt.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I am a big animal lover, more specifically dogs. I have a four year-old Cocker Spaniel named Jewel. I am strongly against any type of animal abuse, including using animals for entertainment. I am a member of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), and often donate to other animal rescue organizations.
Are you involved in your community?
