Chris A. Dexter was born in Provo, Utah, and was raised in Alaska, New Zealand and Arizona. After serving a two-year, Spanish-speaking mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chile and as a paid intern for Senator E. J. "Jake" Garn in Washington, DC, he graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science.
Mr. Dexter then continued his education in the state of Illinois, where he earned his degree of Juris Doctor from Southern Illinois University. He then returned to Utah to pursue his legal career. Chris and his wife, Jennifer, live in Lindon, Utah with their children.
Mr. Dexter's areas of practice include personal injury (including class action litigation and aviation law), criminal defense, real estate law and business law. He views his role to be one of solving problems by zealously and effectively advocating and representing the interests of his clients in their personal or professional lives.
Chris is an experienced personal injury attorney. For over four years, Mr. Dexter represented the interests of the world's largest insurer, State Farm Insurance Companies. During his tenure at State Farm, he handled thousands of claims and defended State Farm and its policyholders in court, in addition to investigating insurance fraud as a member of its Special Investigative Unit ("SIU"). Mr. Dexter has experience with cases involving wrongful death, traumatic brain injury, aviation law, catastrophic injury, auto accidents including auto-pedestrian cases, class actions and mass torts. Including Fen-Phen, Baycol, Vioxx and SSRI's (Anti-Depressants).
In his private practice as a criminal defense attorney, Mr. Dexter draws on his experience prosecuting criminal cases in the State of Illinois. This experience has enabled Mr. Dexter to scrutinize and litigate charges in such a manner so as to protect the rights of the accused and to see both sides of the proverbial fence in his analysis.
Mr. Dexter is an experienced real estate attorney. As a licensee of the Utah Division of Real Estate, counsel for real estate professionals and one who represents buyers and sellers of real property, he has a unique perspective. He has participated in the planning, development and marketing of both commercial and residential projects including University Office Park, Springville Heights and Legacy Mountain.
Mr. Dexter represents the interests of businesses ranging in size from small, closely-held family businesses to corporations with more than one hundred employees. As a business-owner himself, Mr. Dexter understands the challenges, risks and opportunities presented by the business world. Mr. Dexter knows that success in business is dependant upon effective formulation and implementation of excellent competitive and marketing strategies.
Mr. Dexter enjoys spending time with his family, volunteering in his church and community, working with youth, the outdoors, 4-wheeling, and BYU sports - especially football.
