About Christian

I received my B.A. in Psychology in 1996 and spent many years in Human Services. This experience gives me perspective into the complicated and emotional aspects of family law. While in law school at St. Louis University, I worked with Catholic Legal Assistance Ministry (CLAM) for over a year under the supervision of several talented and well-respected family law attorneys. Working at CLAM grew my interest in family law and I gained invaluable experience representing clients in various courts around the greater St. Louis region. But perhaps just as important as my life experience and education, before law school, I personally struggled with a painful divorce and an even more painful custody battle. It really seemed like the end of the world. But in time, I grew stronger and wiser from the experience. I now enjoy an incredible relationship with my daughter and have learned how to co-parent successfully with my ex. (Usually!) My goal is to bring all of my education, experience and compassion into play when helping you through this difficult time in your life.

Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I helped a parent reunite with their child after the other parent stopped sharing custody.

How did you build a successful practice?

I have worked hard to never compromise on customer service. Many clients are reluctant to hire an attorney they do not know, but after working with me, they come to understand the value of an attorney who keeps them up to date on their case and who provides transparent, detailed, and fair billing.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Make sure you understand the costs of hiring an attorney. Just because an attorney is asking for less money up front, does not mean it will cost you less in the long run. Billing can get very tricky and you may wonder what you are paying for. Be sure that a lawyer provides very detailed billing and does not round up their time. Also, be sure that a system is in place that allows you to always know what is going on with your case, what your responsibilities are, and when and where you need to show up for court appointments.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

I know the courts in this area and have worked with many of the lawyers in town.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

I can listen to the caller's story and let them know if I believe their case is a good fit for my firm. We will discuss fees and possibles directions the case may go.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

If the caller has funds to hire an attorney right away or they need to save up and postpone their case. Helpful information also includes the other party's name, the court where the case is or will be filed, and any possible complications.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I do not have a monthly quota for billable hours. I use the time which is necessary to reach my clients' goals as quickly as possible and no more. As my own boss, I will not get fired if I cannot meet a monthly billable hours goal, so I focus on saving my clients money, while reaching their goals at the same time.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Helping clients through a difficult time and helping them understand that life after their case can bring peace and new opportunities - after all, I went to law school after I got divorced and now I have the honor of serving the great people of Missouri.

Are you involved in your community?

I am a volunteer Director on the Board of Helping Hand Me Downs, volunteer for the Fox Channel 2 Call-A-Lawyer Hotline program, provide pro bono legal work to a local non-profit's clients, and many more activities.
