The parties are a same sex couple who were never married. While together, the Respondent became impregnated by way of artificial insemination (IUI) and gave birth to a minor child. When the parties' relationship ended, the Petitioner filed a Petition to Determine Parental Rights to seek custody over the minor child. After the case was dismissed with prejudice, after the fourth petition, the respondent appealed the order granting motion to dismiss. Oral arguments were heard in November 2016. The court has not rendered a decision.
