Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
Recently, our Firm represented an individual who was seriously injured after a tractor trailer pulled out in front of his truck. The accident resulted in a complete amputation of the left arm. Our client was a blue-collar worker who was unable to return to gainful employment. As a former blue collar worker himself, Chris took this case very personally and committed himself to fighting to ensure he would never have to worry about finances. After filing suit and finding very damming evidence in the case, Chris was able to obtain a very large confidential award for his client. Fortunately, our client and his family will be taken care of financially for life.
How did you build a successful practice?
It all started with the mentality that the client comes first. We are here to serve and demand excellence when acting on behalf of our clients. Chris believes that the best billboard or advertisement is a former client. The Firm has grown over the years by making sure our client’s leave happy and in turn, we receive numerous referrals of our services from previous clients.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
A potential client should always do their homework before selecting an attorney. Online reviews are an excellent resource. Be careful for reviews that look “manufactured” and “generic.” Well-articulated and detailed reviews explaining how the reviewer was treated are very helpful. Also, meet with multiple attorneys if necessary. At the end of the day, you need to make sure that you are comfortable that you and your attorney can work together as a team to bring your case to a successful resolution.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge if very important to the success of our cases. In any jurisdiction that we practice law, it is important to know the geographics, demographics, and makeup of the court system. Chris has always strived to keep good professional relationships with local counsel, judges, and court staff. This can go a long way toward getting favorable rulings if your case goes to court.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
The Firm is committed to assisting any caller in any manner we can. We will answer all questions from potential clients, and if at the end of the call, Chris feels that he can be an asset to the case, he will take it on and put forth ever efforts to bring the case to a successful resolution. At the end of any consultation, whether it be forming a client relationship with the caller, giving the client general advice to assist them in handling the matter on their own, or referring the case to a colleague, Chris is committed to ending all calls satisfied that he has offered valuable advice to the caller.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
Generally the names of the parties involved, the nature of the dispute, the jurisdiction that the incident occurred, and the extent of the damages. If it is an accident case, it is very helpful to email him the accident report or give the Firm sufficient information to get the accident report to review prior to the initial consultation. This will bring him up to speed on the matter so that he can ask the necessary follow up questions to determine whether it is a case he feels he can assist with.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I’m not just a billboard or TV lawyer that the potential client would never have the opportunity to meet with, much less even speak with. I was born in the community and have practiced law here since 2003. When you hire Chris Hudson, you have Chris Hudson, and I make myself available to speak with you about your case at any time. I am also willing to go to court and actually try cases before a jury. Many of my colleagues hold themselves out as “trial lawyers,” but I have actually tried hundreds of trials, and obtained large jury verdicts.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Knowing that the client has left the office at the conclusion of the case completely compensated and satisfied with our efforts.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I love everything outdoors, whether camping, hiking, boating, fishing or hunting. I am also an avid dog handler. My dog Haven is a white lab who has her AKC Master Hunter title. I enjoy taking her to hunt tests and competing against other dogs.
Are you involved in your community?
I am heavily involved in many charitable organizations within the community. I am most proud of my foundation that I formed in 2019, the “Chris Hudson Foundation, Inc.,” a 401(c)(3) non-profit with the mission of providing $2,500.00 scholarships to underprivileged youth. Currently, the foundation funds five scholarships to deserving high school seniors who are entering their freshman year of college. It is very rewarding to give a hand up to a young high school senior who has demonstrated academic excellence while facing challenges such as poverty, a single family home, or other extenuating circumstance
