Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
My first, contested case since coming out of school was a contested custody modification that I took pro-bono. Our defense of the custody modification was successful. My client was proceeding pro se and no one from legal services would take her case. I still have the thank you card she gave me after it was all said and done.
How did you build a successful practice?
I wouldn't say that I've built a successful practice, that was already here when I came to town. However, I'm building on the foundation that was already here.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Clients should look for someone that gives them the straight answer, even if it's one that the client doesn't want to hear.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge is important when it comes to being able to go to the extra mile. Knowing who to refer people to help solve their problem (beyond what the lawyer can do) has comes in handy on a regular basis.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
I don't do free consults, but if clients can provide me with good contact info (for conflicts checks) and are able to relate their issue that saves time when it comes to the consult.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I'm young, and I have no problem working on the more esoteric issues, in addition to the more unpleasant family law cases.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Helping people solve their problem, or at least reaching an acceptable result so that clients can move forward with their lives.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I'm an active alumni of the Delta Chi Fraternity and I'm a member of the Peru Rotary Club.
Are you involved in your community?
Yes, the Peru Rotary Club is very active in the community with philanthropy projects and fundraisers for the club's Rotary goals.
