About Corey

Corey Bauer is a formidable, young attorney that fights for your liberties like he has something to prove. Having attended Kent State University in Ohio, Attorney Bauer went on to earn his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He periodically clerked for The Ambrose Law Firm throughout his studies and eventually earned a position with the firm in hopes of becoming a top-flight trial lawyer under the tutelage of Attorney Ambrose. While earning his J.D. at the University of Pittsburgh, Attorney Bauer excelled academically. He earned three CALI Excellence for the Future awards for the best letter grade in his class in the subjects of Advanced Trial Evidence, Securities Arbitration, and Criminal Defense and Prosecutorial Ethics. Further, he earned the William H. Eckert Prize for superior upper-level legal research and writing – given to only one student in each graduating class. Moreover, Attorney Bauer placed an emphasis on trial advocacy throughout his studies. Making the Pitt Law Mock Trial Team in his first year of law school, Attorney Bauer traveled the nation facing other promising young law students in mock jury trials. In his third year of law school, he advanced to the National Championship in the American Bar Association Trial Advocacy Competition. Since entering the legal profession, Attorney Bauer has acquired a diverse and sizable repertoire of criminal law experience. After his first year of law school, he clerked for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania in the Violent and Organized Crime Section. In this position he gained an immense amount of experience in criminal investigations and federal criminal practice including, but not limited to, extensive legal research and writing in federal court, Title III wire-taps, and helping to organize large amounts of digital evidence in preparation for jury trial against an illegal online pharmaceutical sales operation based out of the Middle-East. Attorney Bauer then went on to intern as a student-attorney at the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Under Pennsylvania Rule 321, he was enabled to act as if an Assistant District Attorney in court while still studying for his law degree. Consequently, he performed as an advocate for the Commonwealth in hearings and motions before judges of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas and Pittsburgh City Court – gaining experience in handling drug and violence-related offenses. Today, he personally handles a wide range of criminal matters for the Ambrose Law Firm and assists Attorney Ambrose on all major state and federal cases across the United States. Attorney Bauer is licensed to practice in the entire Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, as well as in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He belongs to the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the American Bar Association, the Erie County Bar Association and the Allegheny County Bar Association.

Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

Commonwealth v. Zinner (Jury Trial) Originally charged with multiple felonies relating to an alleged co-ed sexual assault at a local university, I filed a motion on behalf of the Defendant that successfully eliminated the first degree felony charge and then I continued to trial on the remaining felonies and lone misdemeanor charge. At trial, I conducted a cross-examination of the DNA and forensic experts highlighting the inadequate investigation and the fact that a key witness lied about the events of the night in question. The result was an acquittal on all felony charges and a conviction of a second degree misdemeanor.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Clients need to remember that there are two types of lawyers; the lawyers that take as many cases as possible and have a high turnover rate to make money, and the lawyers that take on fewer cases to become personally invested in their clients. It is imperative that clients find the latter. There is only a 3% chance of winning at the appellate level, so front-end load your criminal cases by paying for a lawyer that's willing to aggressively fight.

The most rewarding aspect of my job is that I get to be a defender of the Constitution and people's civil liberties. There is nothing more precious that those things to an American citizen and I get to witness a tangible impact on my client's lives as I fight for them against the might of the Government.
