About Paul
In 2001, he founded the law practice now known as Curtis, Porter & Adams Law Offices. He specializes in plaintiff's work, focusing on cases involving personal injury and wrongful death. Mr. Curtis is one among the handful of attorneys who is a Certified Specialist in the area of workers' compensation law - meaning he has met the objectives and rigorous standards approved by the Idaho State Bar Association. His ability to meet these stringent requirements makes such a certification a highly-regarded credential.
Mr. Curtis has acted as lead counsel in numerous jury and court trials in both California and Idaho. He is currently licensed to practice law in both Idaho and California, as well as in the Federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court. Most recently, Mr. Curtis has been selected by the National Trial Lawyers as one of the "Top 100" trial lawyers in the State of Idaho for 2012.
He has been actively involved in promoting legislation for the benefit of injured persons. He has successfully initiated the process leading to changes in the law - including laws mandating that all insurance companies in Idaho offer "under-insured" motorist coverage, and laws allowing the estate of a deceased plaintiff to recover damages that, prior to the law, were not available.
Mr. Curtis is married to Rebecca Curtis (Snyder) formerly of Elk Grove, California, and is the father of three children: Logan, Olivia, and Landon. Mr. Curtis is an expert kayaker; he has experience kayaking on the North Fork of the Payette, as well as in the Grand Canyon. He is a former whitewater river guide based out of Moab, Utah. He also enjoys other aspects of the outdoors, including backpacking, mountain climbing, hunting, fishing, alpine and backcountry skiing, and trail riding on both bikes and horses. His 3x3 basketball team (the "Old Dawgs") earned a silver medal in the 2010 Huntsman Senior Games in St. George, Utah.

Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
Client had a bad accident with serious injuries. Insurance policy limits looked like client would not receive any money for her injuries. I was able to negotiate a settlement that left client a substantial amount of tax-exempt money to client.
How did you build a successful practice?
In a small community word-of-mouth is very important. We have been able to develop a great reputation such that much of our business is repeat or word-of-mouth referral business.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
A lawyer should look out for his or her client\'s best interests before their own.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
We do so much personal injury work in the area that we understand the local streets, law, insurance providers, and even know many of the insurance adjusters and defense lawyers so we are able to obtain premium settlements.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
There are no dumb questions. We want to answer all of the potential client\'s questions so that he/she can have the confidence in our firm that we can help.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
Usually just the facts of the case.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
Our office, including attorneys and paralegals, have nearly 100 years of experience in handling personal injury and workers compensation claims.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Solving problems and fighting big insurance companies are the most rewarding aspects of this work.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Other interests include hunting and fishing and running rivers.
Are you involved in your community?
Yes. I have spent many years as a youth group leader in the local community as well as been a member of the local downtown development board. I have also been successful in lobbying for changes in state laws that benefit insured\'s in the community.
