About Cynthia

Cynthia Bernard graduated from the University of Miami School of Law cum laude in 1995. She began practicing in the areas of criminal and insurance defense, served as Chairperson of the Young Lawyers’ Division of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association and received the James A Dixon, Jr. Young Lawyer of the Year Award in 2000.

Ms. Bernard relocated to Connecticut in 2001, and resumed practicing in the areas of insurance defense, personal injury, commercial litigation, residential real estate, matrimony and child welfare.

Over the past 17 years, Ms. Bernard has devoted hundreds of hours providing pro bono legal services to low income individuals in CT. She has volunteered at Legal Services of CT, served as Program Director for Child Advocates of CT, represented children in the child welfare system through Lawyers for Children America, and is currently a guardian ad litem for children in the child welfare system.

Ms. Bernard has served on the Executive Board and Board of the Westport Young Women's League, and she has been a general member since 2001. In addition to her private law practice, Ms. Bernard provides counseling to low income women studying at Mercy Learning Center in Bridgeport, CT.
