Notable Work
Six-Figure Confidential Settlement
The law firm settled a case against a bar/tavern for overserving alcohol to an individual who left the bar and caused a motor vehicle collision. Under the law, a bar can be held liable for serving alcohol to a visibly intoxicated person. While this is seldom admitted, we hired a toxicologist to confirm that the individual was so intoxicated that there was no way there were not signs of visible intoxication. There was a separate settlement with the driver.

Questions & Answers
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Experience and expertise are important. You should find a lawyer that has handles personal injury cases. I would avoid the law firms that handle too many areas of the law. For example, some law firms represent clients on divorce, criminal matters, collections, bankruptcy, immigration, and personal injury. While some lawyers try to know everything, it is almost impossible for one person to know everything necessary about all areas of the law. You should also look for a lawyer that is available to you and that you like. If you do not like your own attorney, how can you expect insurance adjusters, judges, or possibly juries to like him or her? One of the biggest complaints about lawyers is that they are never available to talk to their clients. In fact, some of the larger law firms do not even have your first meeting with an attorney. Rather, they have you meet with a case manager or "salesperson" sent to sign you up. If you are not able to meet with an attorney or reach your attorney on the phone, there is a problem. Ask your attorney for his personal cell phone number and see what happens. Finally, you want to find a lawyer that will meet with you for free and evaluate your case without charge. Some lawyers want money upfront to help pay for the costs expended on your case. Our law firm, and many others, do not require payment upfront for costs, and attorney's fees are based on a percentage of any recovery you receive. Therefore, you should not owe a personal injury attorney anything until after your case has been settled.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local and state laws are crucial for a personal injury attorney to know but can be daunting for a victim to grasp when they are also managing so many other emotions after their accident. That is why at Western States Law, we pride ourselves on having extensive knowledge of the insurance industry that gives you extra leverage in resolving your damages claim on favorable terms. We provide personalized and attentive service for all of our clients, whether you need help for broken bones, neck, back, or spinal injuries, brain injury, or a wrongful death lawsuit. You will always be given the cell phone number of founding partner, Dallas Norton.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
We serve clients on a contingent fee basis, meaning we can meet with victims in person, over the phone, video conferencing, etc., and if we don't recover for you, there is NO attorney's fee. We have extensive knowledge of the insurance industry that gives you extra leverage in resolving your damages claim on favorable terms. For a free consultation about your rights and options in the aftermath of a car crash, contact Western States Law, P.C. at 303-400-8100. Evening, weekend, telephone, and in-home appointments are available.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
We would like to begin every potential case by understanding the victim, gathering their basic personal contact information, and an overview of the incident in question. Our team is always able to gather records and reports from the incident once we begin working together but having that information and/or any photos is a great asset as well.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
We are a boutique, full-service personal injury law firm based in Aurora, Colorado with attorneys also licensed in Utah and Wyoming. We take your case personally and assist in getting the help you need in every way. Some larger firms pass your case off to a “case manager” or paralegal. With us, you will always have a personal injury lawyer assigned to your case.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Family and children are top priorities for Dallas and his wife, Robyn. They married in 1996, brought six children into their marriage, and adopted one more. Their herd of kids includes Justin, Cameron, Miranda, Jordan, Colton, Alana, and Jacob. As of 2021, they have 7 grandkids, as well. Dallas and his wife, Robyn, love spending time with their children and grandchildren in both Colorado and Utah. They enjoy spoiling their grandkids, in addition to taking family vacations. The Norton's have supported many children’s organizations, including Children’s Hospital, Dolls-for-Daughters, the Magic Johnson Empowerment Center, the Excelsior Youth Center, the Ronald McDonald House, and Make-A-Wish Foundation. Dallas was also the president of a youth hockey non-profit organization.
Are you involved in your community?
As a neighbor and attorney, Dallas is well-respected in Colorado’s legal community. He is a member of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association and has lectured to hundreds of attorneys as part of their required continuing legal education. He has also lectured to hundreds of doctors regarding medical-legal issues in personal injury cases. Dallas is a member of multiple state and local bar associations. He is also a former member of the Association of Plaintiff Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America, a national association of personal injury attorneys who help semi-truck accident victims.
