Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

We make the biggest difference for families through our Estate and Elder Law Planning. When we keep a family from going through Court for end of life care, qualify them for benefits so they don't lose everything, keep them out of the Probate process through Revocable Trust Planning or efficiently take them through the Court process we're changing lives.

How did you build a successful practice?

We built a successful practice over the last thirty years by listening to our clients and determining each day how to make the practice work a little better for our clients. The most important attribute however is our staff. Our staff members are friendly, highly skilled and customer oriented.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

When I choose a lawyer for my family I look for someone who is passionate about what they do, who legally specializes in their specific area of law and most importantly, a lawyer who has been referred to me either by someone I trust or has excellent reviews from past clients and other professionals who have knowledge of their skills.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Every state has different laws and every county has specific nuances which must be addressed, so in my opinion local knowledge is the key to a successful expedited result. Knowing the right way to do things and the right people to see to get them done is everything. In the last 30 years this is how our firm has operated and best served our clients. What information can you provide for free? We have free monthly education seminars to address the overall area of Estate Planning and Elder Law. Attendance at these events is a great way to educate yourself about this vast area of law and get some of your specific questions addressed. What will happen when I call the office to make an appointment? Our staff members will ask you about your situation, see if we are able to assist you and if so, set you up with the best attorney to address your needs.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

For the last thirty years we've practiced in only one area of the law - Estate Planning and Elder Law. Our office does comprehensive planning. We handle as much of the leg work as is humanly possible for our clients. For instance, most firms don't transfer assets or change beneficiaries for their clients, but instead give them instructions on how to do these things when they leave. A key part of our job and the difference at Law Offices of Cheryl David is that we do these things for our clients. We believe it's our job to make your life easier and help you though the process. Whether it's protecting an estate from the devastating costs of illness or the expense of Probate when a loved one dies, we're here to help.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

I love when spouses and children come in and thank us and tell us that our staff made a difficult time easier. They recount how friends and other family members referred them to our office and how satisfied they are with our work and how they will refer others to us when they see someone who needs our services.
