Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I provided practical business and legal guidance to a regulated energy company in New York, to acquire another energy company and get through regulatory approvals for a successful merger and acquisition. My firm represented Fab Films with a major publisher and a public broadcasting station and negotiated the distribution of a new film, "When My Time Comes," with award-winning NPR investigative reporter, Diane Rehm.

How did you build a successful practice?

I listen carefully to my client's needs and provide sound ethical and practical business advice, based on 30+ years of experience, not just legal advice.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Sound business as well as legal judgment, expertise based on years of real-world experience, and reasonable fees.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Local knowledge is essential. The best lawyers know the judges as well as the law.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

Depending on the case, I usually can give some high-level advice and options for the client to consider.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

Just the basics of the case or matter; and I can ask questions regarding other information needed.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I have over 30 years of real-world experience as a lawyer handling a wide variety of cases and clients. I've created and run businesses and grown ideas into multi-million dollar businesses. I'm a lawyer who understands business in US or internationally, and from the shop floor to the board room and Wall Street..

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Helping others achieve their goals..

What are your other interests in addition to law?

I'm an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University, and teach Law, Business, and Entrepreneurship; sometimes invest in new and exciting companies, am an author of several books, and like to invent new products. And, especially like to play with my grandchildren.

Are you involved in your community?

Yes, I'm active in my church and provide pro-bono legal support.
