Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

Recently, I had the privilege of assisting a blended family navigate the complex process of integrating two separate estate plans into one cohesive strategy. The husband had children from a previous marriage, and the wife had inherited property with sentimental value. Through careful planning, we ensured each family member's legacy was protected without triggering unnecessary conflict or tax burdens. The peace of mind this brought the family was immeasurable—and for me, that’s the true measure of success.

How did you build a successful practice?

I built my practice on three pillars: trust, education, and follow-through. From day one, I’ve prioritized educating my clients—not just handing them documents, but ensuring they understand every clause and consequence. I also treat every client with the same level of care I’d give my own family. Word-of-mouth referrals followed naturally, and today my firm continues to grow because of relationships built on integrity and results.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Clients should look for clarity, compassion, and competence. Estate planning isn’t just about legal documents—it’s about protecting your loved ones, values, and vision. You need a lawyer who listens deeply, explains thoroughly, and plans meticulously. Don’t settle for someone who rushes you through paperwork. Choose a lawyer who will walk beside you every step of the way.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Extremely important. State laws vary significantly, and even within a state, local probate courts can have specific procedures and preferences. My deep understanding of Texas estate law—and the nuances of local jurisdictions—helps me guide clients efficiently and avoid costly delays. Estate planning is not one-size-fits-all. Local insight ensures it’s tailored and effective.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

During your free consultation, our team will help you understand the basics of estate planning, identify whether a will or trust is best for your goals, and outline any glaring risks in your current plan (or lack thereof). I’ll also provide insight into timelines, fees, and what to expect moving forward—so you leave the call more informed and confident in your next steps.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

To make our consultation productive, it helps to know your general family structure (married, kids, blended family), what types of assets you own (real estate, retirement accounts, business interests), and your goals—like who you want to protect and how. Don’t worry if you don’t have every detail; just bring your questions and I’ll help you sort the rest out.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

What sets me apart is my ability to combine strategic legal thinking with a deeply personal touch. I don’t just draft documents—I build legacies. My clients often say they feel “heard,” “relieved,” and even “empowered” after working with me. I also stay on top of the latest legal developments and tax strategies, so your plan is always one step ahead.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Hands down, the most rewarding part is giving families peace of mind. Knowing that a widow won’t have to face probate alone, or that children will be cared for according to their parents’ wishes—those are the moments that matter. Estate planning may be legal work, but for me, it’s about serving the heart of the family.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

Outside the office, I’m passionate about writing, spending time with our family and friends, and spending time outdoors. I’ve authored several books on asset protection because I believe informed clients make better decisions. I’m also an avid motorcycle rider and enjoy the quiet reflection that riding my motorcycle provides—it reminds me why we plan for the future in the first place.

Are you involved in your community?

Absolutely. Community involvement is part of my DNA. I volunteer regularly for Rotary International focused on eradicating polio. I am also involved in our local Scout community, and I often speak at senior events, churches, and civic groups to educate the public about estate planning. Giving back is not just good ethics—it’s the heart of why I do what I do.
